The beat writer from Fargo has SIU picked 6th in the league. Assuming the Jackrabbits and Bison are ahead of the rest, then most of the middle teams are pretty close together.

Hard to argue with this.  FCS football is really tough to predict outside of the top-tier teams so I'm hopefully for a surprise this season.  On paper though, I think this is a .500 team headed in the wrong direction.

I think his standings picks are unfortunately quite accurate except for YSU. They lost their outstanding RB, so I expect them to finish lower. Also not sure Mo State will finish above the Redturds, but there's always hope!

I have some issues with his all-con picks. I think Theo Day is the best QB, and Tommy Schuster is also very good... not that Gronowski is a slouch. Would love to have any of those three on SIU. Bohanek might be on that LB list too. And Hartrup and Cox at WR are both talented.

While I  certainly have hope for a higher finish, my gut feeling tells me SIU and ND will battle for that 4th place finish.

I agree with you that Bohanek, Cox, and Hartrup should be on this list. I would also consider adding PJ Jules, and CJ Johnson. Really good DB's.

This is big news.  Not surprising though.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

The options he mentions I’m not sure makes sense in many cases. SEMO, for example, probably doesn’t leave the OVC Football unless they leave the conference altogether. And I highly doubt the MVC takes them as a whole.

My guess is that the Mountain West is more worried with the situation with San Diego St. right now than adding the 2 Dakota schools. But yes, that seems like the most-realistic possibility for those 2 schools to move to FBS. The obvious question will be whether it's just for football or for all sports. That would be quite a jump from the Summit League to the Mountain West in sports like men's basketball.

You wonder if the "NDSU/SDSU to the Mountain West" rumors will pick up any steam in the next couple of weeks if the Mountain West gets raided by the Pac-12 leftovers. Mountain West schools only get about $4 million a year per school in TV revenue, compared to the $20+ million they could get in the Pac-12.

@obd All PAC 12 teams join Power 5 conferences except WSU and OSU, which join the MWC.  Therefore, no need for additional expansion of the MWC.
