Conference realignments could make finding FBS opportunities less and less.
Not good!

Stanford and Cal are interested in the Big 10 but not vice versa at this point. IMO, they make sense in the Big 10 now that UCLA and USC are in, although having a coast to coast college conference makes no sense at all. Just a pro league now like the SEC and Big 12.

I'm amazed that the Big 12 has expanded and the PAC 12 is basically gone. I thought it would be just the opposite.

The Power 5 should just merge into one conference.  It’s all about the money anyway.  They can call it the BIG Money Conference.  They can go play with themselves.  The rest of the schools in D1 should do their own thing and for those of us that really don’t care about the schools in the BIG Money Conference should boycott watching this B.S.

That's what Chip Kelly says ..get like the NFL with two leagues and divisions like West Central East.  The coast the coast thing like the Big Ten is just crazy for travel.. it's ridiculous to make student athletes do that. Teams will lose games due to jet lag.

The FCS and D2 and D3 may be the only true college (non-professional) leagues in 5 or 10 years.

@obd All PAC 12 teams join Power 5 conferences except WSU and OSU, which join the MWC.  Therefore, no need for additional expansion of the MWC.

I think that would be the cleanest way to go. B1G seems the logical choice for Cal and Stanford but I heard someplace that Fox nixed that idea.

Looking forward to the season.  I have no idea what to expect from this team and their non-conference schedule is tough.  Let’s get it started!  Go Dawgs!!

No excuse not to have a good season. The 2023 MVCFB schedule is about as soft as it could get for the Dawgs. Ind St, WIU, and Murray St should be automatic. Austin Peay is a coin flip IMO, NIU is coming off a bad 3-9 but played well against some good football teams. Expect them to be much improved record wise. SEMO looks like a legit playoff contender. Dawgs have to be 2-1 after week 3 or it’s going to be a long uphill battle.
If the Dawgs struggle out of the gate like last season does Hill make a change or does he let Baker set records on our way to another 5 win season?

I agree that there are some winnable games on the schedule this year (WIU and Murray in particular...ISU Blue should be a win, but they actually have some talent on that team). Can't have a slow start after last year and really need to figure out how to finish games (difference between a 5-6 season and a playoff season).

If they get off to a slow start, I'm sure Hill will make some tweaks, but you are assuming that Baker will be the reason they are off to a slow start...

Last year they avoided SDSU with a better roster (in my opinion).  Getting both NDSU and SDSU puts way more importance on the other games.  If you drop a few of those, you’re in trouble

@siu_2011 5-5 in games we led in the 4th quarter. Horrible red zone offense and horrible 3rd down team. If it looks the same as last year, what position do you tweak to ignite the offense?

No doubt we struggled to close out games, but the defense was just as culpable…see SEMO, Youngstown, and UNI. Again you have set out a hypothetical…if it’s an offensive issue, sure maybe you adjust the offensive scheme, utilize a running QB, whatever, but you may be surprised that switching the QB doesn’t help much if , for example, your line can’t block.

I just find it funny that Baker being replaced is always the answer to our woes (real or hypothetical). Next year someone else gets to take over regardless.

What else can be tweaked? Also can this season just start already, done with the speculating and can't wait to start chirping at other teams! LFG

I mean I listed a few above, but you can adjust other personnel, your play calling, and of course if you feel like a different skill set at QB would be work better yeah switch QB. All those decisions are heavily dependent on what the issues are to begin with.

I agree, ready for the season to start!
