I agree, Hill deserves an extension.
WOOF!
First, I have to say this season has been an incredible disappointment. However, I agree with you considering the shambles that Coach Hill inherited I am still with him. He will have to do yoemans work this off season though to right the ship. I am more partial to the defense than most for personal reasons but they have to get MUCH better. A lot of the losses are on their shoulders. I'm also very worried about a QB for next season.
We actually submitted a FOIA request in April for Hucky. As of then there was no extension
wait, Hill inherited shambles? i must have missed the program cratering.
Nick has simply gotten worse from Lennon's mediocre results, but he would kill for the 6-6 season Dale had in his next to last season. hell, he'd kill for the 3-8 season with 4 season ending losses to 3 ranked teams that ended Lennon's coaching career.
this fanbase has the ability to re-write history to suit their needs. the program wasnt in shambles, it just wasnt where the Department wanted it. Of course the new hire has not helped things and has simply made them worse.

Agreed, Lennon was plodding along, but it isn’t like the program was in shambles. What was happening was Lennon was losing close games in a Valley that was at its absolute toughest. If Lennon were still here we’d probably have a better record over the last three years than under Hill. Now we have reverted to the pre-Kill level of Saluki football, the key difference being we have a small group of fans watching the game in luxury while the rest of the fans stay home.

Lennon was heading that way. 3 - 8 that last year, losing the last 4 games, capped by a blowout loss to UNI. Ianotti graduating, not great talent levels. The best talent Lennon had was the early years with Kill's recruits.
Unfortunately, Nick Hill hasn't really improved things. QB is so important and I worry about that position next year. The secondary was ruined by injuries - should be a lot better next year.
How bad are the crowds for football this season? I haven't been to a single game. Haven't they lost a bunch of close games, which doesn't mean they're as awful as the record would indicate?

The problem is SIU loses close games every year. They have to get over that hump.

Lost like 4 games by total of 13 points. These guys don't know how to win.
Injuries aren’t an excuse.
We haven’t even been to a playoff game the entire time Saluki Stadium has been open. Way to go, Saluki Athletics. I’m sure donors are lining up to help now. /s 💀
At least there's beer at the home games now to endure the losses. That couldn't be said in the previous terrible eras of Saluki football.
I think Nick , deserved or not, gets another year . However , he is gonna have to step his game up in a big way. When have to get a lot better in the trenches. Although we have lost quite a few close games the last few years , we are also getting blown out far too often.
As a fan , the worse thing a coach can be is average , which I think Dale was , and obviously Chester is. Not good enough to challenge for championships , just good enough to keep their jobs .
I think Hill gets on more year to do something, but anything short of a winning record next season warrants a change.
