The following national rankings of all D1 football teams come from 247sports.com. The number in parenthesis is how that group ranked in the MVFC only:

I put them in, but I don't really look at the National Rank Numbers. I know some of you do. That's why they are there. They simply don't tell me that much. And there are other class ranking sights, ie scout.com, but they are all fairly close. I prefer to look at how Nick is recruiting against the rest of the MVFC.
Now I throw out 2016. Nick's first recruiting year. Now add the recruiting rankings for the MVFC together. Like golf, lowest score wins. Of course, NDSU is leading with 3 points. SIU and ISUred are tied for second with 9. The next two jump to 17, UNI and MSU. Okay, so Nick has had a few good recruiting classes. Now what?
Now you have to develop them. Look at the current coaching staff and I'm forgetting about the coaches who are no longer there. I think it's very apparent that this staff developed this last group of players just about as well as any coaching staff in football could. There are some arguments that Nick should be replaced. I don't buy into them. Everyone on this board knows I have been very supportive of Nick's hiring and supportive of his continued coaching. I think Nick did a good job this year. But I would give two guys the most valuable coaching awards. Jason Petrino (mancrush) completely revamped the defense. No more giving up 40 points a game. That, more than anything else, led to our success. And the other coach I thought was invaluable was Chuka Ndulue. The DL coach. What a job he did with the DT's. He had a couple that didn't even have D1 talent and made them work. The other DT's were infinitely improved over last year. In my opinion, he probably did the best job of all of the staff. Keep this staff in tact as long as possible.
I am very optimistic for the future.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
I put little to zero thought into FCS recruiting rankings. They mean nothing

The fact that NDSU has been in the same stratosphere in recruiting as the rest of the conference tells you all you need to know about FCS recruiting rankings
NDSU should have been at the edge of the top 25 in FBS. These recruiting rankings are nothing but worthless.
Since I moved to Austin and began to follow UT football (sort of) 22 years ago, UT has consistently been ranked in the Top 10--if not higher--of recruiting classes nationwide: as in almost every year. That has translated into a grand total of six actual Top 10 finishes during that time.
So yes: kind of worthless.
(Inflammatory political snark)
D'ante Cox committed to SIU today. Avante's brother. Big under the radar pick up
I think he was a preferred walk-on at Illinois. Couldn't handle Lovie's beard! 😀
Wonder how many years he has?
Really hope Mr. Hill is out beating the bushes for an outstanding under-the-radar QB!

Agreed. Nice recognition, but no guarantee that anything pans out.
Nick's recruiting class revealed tomorrow. (Wednesday)
