I think he’s talking about 2003 when we lost only one game and had to go to Delaware in the first round. I think you’re thinking of when we hosted Delaware in the semis in 07.
Yes. I think we were ranked #9, didn't get a home game because we didn't bid enough, had to play at Delaware who was the #1 or #2 seed. They knocked out Sambursky with a concussion, pounded us 48 - 7, and won the Championship.
In the Nick Hill era, we got upset by Joe Flacco and Delaware in the fog, 20 - 17. The ref called questionable offensive face mask penalties on our linemen twice, killing critical drives.
You are correct. I forgot about 2003. My apologies.
i don't think it's a very big bubble this year. if towson wins saturday to get to 8 wins, and they should, that's 22 of 24 spots taken, leaving the committee to find 2 spots from what looks like a tiny bubble of 4 teams.....the mighty salukis, UND, nichols and maine. anybody else is a stretch.
and i think we are at the top of that short list.

Given the MVFC's reputation, you'd think they'd be in for sure. It would help a ton if they didn't get destroyed by NDSU.

Well, the Salukis are creeping up there...
March on triumphantly!
Dawgs looking good. Hopefully they just need to avoid an embarrassing loss on Saturday and anything more would be gravy.

Notable that NoBowls.com takes into account things like historically how teams have bid in determining who is hosting first round games. Has had SIU hosting Austin Peay a couple weeks in a row.

I could see the Austin Peay - SIU game happening, Even Central Arkansas would be a good option.
I doubt SIU bids as strong as they have in the past, but several good "local" regional options.
Maybe a rematch with SEMO but not opening round.

Can they do opening round rematches? I know the like regional games when possible. I believe conference matchups are not allowed in 1st round, but not sure on a rematch. UT Martin would be another game in same boat.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
need to cheer against nicholls tonight.

Nicholls was dead to rights...then SE Louisiana backup QB mad a bone headed decision to reach for the goal line and fumbled the game away. Looks like that's one less at large bid.
We're tied with Yale at #25 on one poll, and they are down to Harvard 15-3 at the half.

We're in twice on this site:
