I guess the committee values cupcake wins.

Kennesaw state is a weak team. They beat no one and barely got by Missouri State by like eleven. FCS tense to have some bias for the east coast too. Guess we have some motivation for next year.

The team will use this as motivation and come out kicking ass and taking names next season. Already looking forward to it.

My understanding is we were penalized for not having a win over a ranked team. we lost all four. That really hurt us. That being said, we didn't get credit for our improvement during the season. If they had watched our game yesterday they would have seen we're a completely different team now. I would say we're a top ten team now and could have won some games. Instead using their formula, teams got in that we would beat now. I also think we're better than SEMO an IL State now. Still proud of the way Salukis turned the season around. Bodes well for the future.

I'm not really upset, I could have seen it go either way.  The good thing is, the program appears to be making a turn and hopefully the players and coaches use this as motivation for next season.

It has come full circle. We have officially paid for Dale Lennon’s sins here. The 10 years of obscurity    created a bias against us. Thank you Dale!

@salukiworld

The selection committee chairman's reasoning was quite lame.  It seems apparent that his mind was made up a nanosecond after the loss to NDSU was final.  It didn't matter that SIU held NDSU to their lowest point total, offensive stats, and victory point margin all year.  The 7-7  tie-score at halftime was also a first for NDSU, and we all know that the final score should have been closer.  At the end of the day, he just counted wins and losses.  I'm curious to see how any other teams will fare against NDSU through the playoffs.  My belief is that no other team will be able to play them as close as SIU did. Wise-up Mr. Chairman!

I understand the bitterness but 0-4 against the field is not gonna do it. Beat SEMO or the turds and they are in. It is disappointing but there really is nothing to complain about.

This is the correct take. An 0-4 record against the field is rough, but a program that hasn't been irrelevant for a full decade likely gets the benefit of the doubt after demonstrating so much improvement during the season. Reaping what we sowed now. Hopefully the program can keep things rolling next season and get us all the way out of the black hole Dale Lennon created.

I would hate to be the selection committee member tasked with explaining to Kennesaw State why their 9-2 team is sitting at home while 7-5 Southern Illinois is playing next week.

Think of it in terms of the NCAA basketball tournament. In FCS football, the MVFC is like a Power 5/6 conference in basketball. The committee regularly rewards 18-13 P5 teams with bids, leaving 24-win mids and lows at home (because, presumably, their wins were against cupcakes). And we pretty much ALL B!TCH ABOUT IT, and rightfully so. Giving us a bid would have been just like that.

I wish we had gotten in, but I'm not surprised we didn't, nor am I particularly disappointed; I am certainly not angry about it or thinking we got jobbed.

Yesterday the turds got kicked by an unranked YSU team that was in a downhill side the majority of the year.  A very bad and embarrassing loss for them.  But then SIU took a close loss against the #1 ranked team, and somehow that's held against us?  Hmmmmmm…..  And for clarity, SIU went 0-4 against the TOP TEN ranked teams in the FCS Coaches Poll, which is the upper echelon of the Playoff field of 24.  How many teams in the field of 24 even played 4 teams in the top ten?  Just sayin'....

Not sure the MVFC was that great this year compared to past years.  Probably still the best conference in FCS but SIU played some really bad teams towards the end of the year.

Coming close to NDSU does not erase a head to head loss sorry.

I'm also pretty sure the committee was well aware that ISU was without their starting QB and second leading rusher.
