A really classy move by the University of Georgia at their game with Arkansas State on 9/14.  Georgia honored Blake Anderson's wife who recently passed away.

Then Georgia dropped 55 on them.

This is going to be a tall order and ASU will be up to the challenge after getting thoroughly embarrassed by Georgia.  SIU needs to go in with a chip on their shoulders.  They haven't done anything yet....and this is just another game that will help them build momentum going into The Valley season.  Go get 'em Dawgs!

Massey has Ark, St. -21.5.

Sagarin has them by 19 (includes 3 pts for home field)

Unfortunately that spread of 21.5 seems about right.  They've got us in overall team speed.  By a lot.  Really good special teams.  Especially P and K coverage.  Big OL.  A bunch of road graders.  They'll run all over us.  WR's seem to be about on the par with ours.  Many passes were outside the numbers.  Most outside the hashes.  QB has good arm.  Erratic on 30+ yard passes.  But most college kids are.  Have depth at RB.  DL is big.  Switched between 3-4 and 4-3.  Our running game will be quieted.  Good speed at LB.  Easily got back into coverages.  We'll have trouble trying to get behind their S's.  We'll spend the game being forced to throw underneath.  I don't think it's going to matter who our QB is.

How much money are we getting for this game?

Athlon says AS has the best D line and WRs in the Sunbelt. New QB.

I agree with the best DL.  We won't have much of a run game.  Not much time to pass either so everything will have to be underneath.  What will make their WR's look so good is that our DL won't get any pressure on their QB and he'll be able to stand there, and even eat lunch if he wants to, and wait for the receivers to come open.  Our DL better go up to the QB and shake his hand before the game starts, because when it does they'll never lay one on him.

-21.5 to -21. That sounds about right.

Per this article, our guarantee is $300K.

We only got 25k for the UMASS game?

@rabidsaluki

Correct... which is $25K more than we were supposed to get if we had played Liberty as originally scheduled.  There was no guarantee with Liberty - just a straight up road game, with no return.

The $25K was negotiated into the three way deal between us, UMass, and Liberty.  It wasn't much, but it covered a portion of the travel expenses.

It's going about as I expected, except that we have managed to score.

It sucks, but I think people are a bit gun-shy about getting invested in SIU football.

Lyles has made some plays, however he has missed far too many.  And even more disturbing were his decisions reading, or not reading, coverages.  Time to see if Baker can play.
