Just got back from Evanston. What a moment. What a TEAM win. I was really blown away by the lack of mental mistakes and miscues. Team played focused. Reis said there was 4-500 SIU fans there, but there were a lot tucked away under the press box in the shade where he couldn’t see. Really good turnout.
I’ll be honest…I’m still in shock. I didn’t expect this in a million years. NU has a good running game, and just seemed to go away from it too quickly. I’m exhausted. But I had a blast. I love these great moments.
Bow Em
MoState still up on Arky 24-17, late in the third quarter
I too am in shock.
This team looked entirely different from the team I watched the last two games. Well done coaches and players.
You did us proud today.
@the-bobber Thank you for being a prophet. What a positive and uplifting effort and environment today. We beat a BIG foe today, and I enjoyed every single moment. 😀
That was a hell of an effort on both sides of the ball. We honestly left some points on the field too. Loved that the guys came to play despite the record and no one expecting they had a shot.
Great rebound from the defense…we actually held our own up front, didn’t give up many big plays, and by George we got some turnovers!!!
If we play like that, we are going to win some ball games this year. My salty ass still says we should be 2-1 heading in to week 4. Go Dawgs!
Left two TDs on the field but s h i t happens. Great win! Let's keep playing up tempo. Our O is so much better when we do. Baker (and everybody) gets into a rhythm.
Big Life Big Stage = MVC
Fantastic win and a real credit to the coaches and team leadership for putting a performance like that together after such a rocky start to the season. Big-time moment for Saluki football, and, historically, those don't come along too often.
Several excellent individual performances, starting with Baker, who was very, very good and even excelled through a few unfortunate drops. Defensively, the tackling was pretty damn good. I continue to think PJ Jules is a big-time player (that late sack that led to a fumble probably was the knockout blow and he also had a strong tackle in space earlier that forced NU to punt) ...I would love to know why it seems like he rotates out for certain series.
Anyway, cancel the funeral for the 2022 season, though there's still a very uphill climb to make the playoffs at 1-2 entering league play.
Also, just back from Evanston and what a day on the lakefront!
Congrats to Salukis and staff! Yeah, we should have won by more, but I'll take it.
Have to say though, what a tremendous Saluki fan turnout considering the 0-2 start to the season. A lot of happy Dawgs in Evanston and besides the victory, the team singing to the fans was awesome. Keep it up Salukis!
March on triumphantly!

This week in Christmas
Since teams have been very generous and it is nowhere near the holiday season, the Report Card is obligated to point out those institutions who have been in the giving spirit, and on Santa’s nice list this year.
We have already seen the Sun Belt collect millions from athletic departments whose contract negotiations skills could use a little work (hello again, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Nebraska).
Nebraska couldn’t wait three weeks to save $8 million after firing Scott Frost and lowering its buyout. Big Ten West compadre Northwestern played the victim this week against Southern Illinois and thus the Salukis went back to Carbondale with a nice victory and a direct deposit of $550,000.
Eastern Michigan's stocking was full thanks to Arizona State, as the Sun Devils filled it to the brim with $1.5 million. The Eagles then walked away with a 30-21 victory in Tempe and trolled coach Herm Edwards in the process.
They played to win the game: A

Not sure where Reis got his 400-500 number from. 850 tickets were sold through the SIU ticket staff alone. We were at the game and I would guess there were at least 1500 SIU fans at the game when you consider the SIU fans sprinkled throughout the stadium. Very good Northwestern student turnout, but otherwise very poor fan support for Northwestern overall. Also, many NW students left at halftime. Of course, unfortunately the same thing happens at SIU home games. One very cool thing Northwestern did was have all the students come in at the same time and run down the sidelines to their seats. They just kept coming illustrating how good of a student turnout it truly was!
If anyone knows of a source where I can watch this, please let me know. On the Big10 network I got the Indiana game instead. And the Big10 network is obviously not going to replay it.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
