Aside from the first quarter this was a very disappointing game. My two cents:

Offense looked very pedestrian. Labanowitz didn't look terrible, but looks like something of a game manager (or that's how he was deployed today) and with our defense as bad as it is, we need more than that on offense. DJ Davis had a really good game, but that was about it on that side of the ball. Made a couple bad plays and had a couple scores pulled off the board one by penalty and the other on a tipped pass (if that ball isn't tipped it's 6), but we were going to lose this game anyway.

Defense was pretty bad today and was a big reason why last year went as poorly as it did. They don't look like they will be much better this year. SEMO didn't do anything crazy IMO just spread the field and ran basic stretch plays to both sides and the backs found HUGE cutback lanes where our linebackers were supposed to be filling the gaps. Crider and Notree both looked slow and as a result our secondary was making first contact for a majority of the run plays 8-10 yards past the line of scrimmage. SEMO has a really good QB (we need someone like this) who can make plays with his arm and his feet. Wasn't really troubled all game save the first quarter. Most of their big chunk plays were back shoulder throws and one ball over the top where there guy made a nice one handed catch.

I think we are going to struggle mightily again this year if they don't figure out how to get some stops consistently . You aren't going to win many games giving up 44 points a game.

We had no pass rush and couldn't stop the run. Every RB they put in gashed us. Custis was the quickest RB out there. They had one outstanding receiver.

SDSU takes 1 point lead over Minnesota. I'm jealous.

Nothing has changed. It's time to pull the plug on this failed experiment. Poor play calling and a QB that collapsed at the first sign of adversity. Really getting sick of this garbage.

Man, AD Kill won’t let Hill go.  They’re joined at the hip.  Recall, Kill was on the committee that hired Hill, his former QB.  The sad part about it,  Hill is a horrible coach.  No one anywhere would be able to keep a Head coaching job with his resume over the last 4 years.

I'm watching that game. SDSU is really good - Minnesota having trouble moving the ball on them.  SDSU threw one ill-advised gift pass leading to a Minnesota TD.

SDSU has run some beautiful plays to fool the Gophers - really good coaching.

He has one more year on his contract - will he get it? I hate to say this because I was not a Dale Lennon fan - thought he was an average coach that always had some serious talent but also some serious talent gaps - but I think we had more talent on the Lennon teams.

Coming back from Cape . We looked like a HS team against them. Bigger stronger faster.

I don’t know if it’s that or simply Hill not being able to use the talent he has on both sides of the ball.

Maybe a bit of both.

Lennon had QBs like Paul Macintosh, Chris Dieker, Kory Faulkner. RBs like Deji Karim, Jewel Hampton. Guys like Mycole Pruitt.

Not sure we have anything like that on this roster.

Thought the offensive line did a pretty good job.

Lennon started the decline of the program and turned it into medicority.  Should never have happened with Saluki Stadium being built, should have been a boost for recruiting and wasn't.

My guess is Kill is itching to get "his guy" in

Can’t debate that. You’re right about the talent Lennon had compared to now.  So the question might be... why the decrease in talent?  Wins vs losses is probably a contributing factor......

Completely agree. Didn't think Lennon was much of a coach but he had some very good talent - just not enough of it.

And who would Kill's guy be? Thought it was Hill - that's not working.

I thought Hill was Kill’s guy?  Wasn’t Kill on the search committee that ultimately chose Hill?  If Kill was “itching” to get in “his guy”, why did he give Hill an extension?  Jussayin ‘

Yes they did - we had over 200 yards rushing - SEMO's was better though.
