Crap. He’s talented. I wonder what the real reason for this is.
Best wishes to him wherever he lands.
Don't know. But I am curious if it's money. Now that the players can be paid, there was speculation that it will only help the largest programs since they have more exposure and the most cash will flow to those large programs. We'll have to wait and see.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
There was discussion on this in the 2022 football recruiting thread (I think).
Hartrup is really talented. Maybe the most athletic and speedy WR we've seen at SIU. Will be a big loss but interested to follow his career where he goes

Starting DT to the portal too. What’s going on?!
It’s begun. Chasing the almighty dollar. Simply aren’t enough businesses in the ‘Dale that want to spend a lot on these kids. The biggest markets with the most and biggest businesses will now be the draw small markets can’t compete with.

I don’t think other Valley schools have that much more business to warrant a transfer, but the Power 5 schools do.
Cant really blame these kids, although I think only the guys who are gonna be big time anyway are gonna make much money.

Highly doubt FCS transfers are getting much in NIL unless they have some success at the FBS level. FBS is just a better draw for some players and they come to FCS to work their way up or back up to FBS.

It's not about the up front money. I agree salukiworld there isn't any. I'm arguing that the potential to make good money is there at the FBS level and not the FCS level. And the only chance to grab it is to be in a FBS program in a larger market. Every FBS team will be boasting about how much their players are making by being in their programs. The recruiters will have a new section in the recruiting binders labeled "CASH".
Just me doing my famous Nostradamus impersonation.

This NIL business is going to have negative affect on schools of SIU size in both basketball and football could be the end of competing for championships no opportunities to make money this is were culture could make a difference this could also open the for some outlandish cheating

Don't have to cheat now. It's all legal. Tell the kid you want to use his likeness to sell ... and then hand him a bag of cash.

Rich get richer
Jesus - brutal offseason so far. I hope this is just guys chasing a bigger stage and not indicative of some deeper lockerroom issues.
