I see there is no preview/discussion regarding the game this Saturday. I get it. However, if we beat YSU is 5-3 MVFC and 6-5 overall enough to get us in the playoffs, or is the 3 game losing streak too damaging? I know basketball is the main objective now, but was just curious on thoughts.
I think if we won by 2 touchdowns or more there would be a slight chance for an at large bid, but I think it's pretty remote.I see there is no preview/discussion regarding the game this Saturday. We get in at 6-5 if Northwestern could of had a good year. A win Saturday to move to 5-3 in league would be nice. Looking back at Semo, South Dakota, and UNI is going to hurt this off-season. 3 games that could easily be 3 wins. Hopefully it will get this group refocused for a serious run to the final 4. Lots to be excited about returning.
This will be a huge challenge Saturday. YSU gets in with a win and can put the nail in the coffin for the dawgs. Dawgs most likely finished for the year unless they can put up a huge crooked number W.
sure there's a chance. also a chance that reese witherspoon will ring my doorbell.
Not a chance. Craig Haley thinks the Dakotas (minus USD) - and CAA gets 5 in.
I'll be surprised if we win this game. YSU is decent and has a possible NFL running back in McLaughlin.
@valleyfb I certainly hope your enthusiasm for next year becomes reality. I do believe we heard the same about this years squad. However, we lose two outstanding receivers as well as key players on defense. Utilize the FBS transfer route again, maybe a kicker, receiver, DE???

IF Dawgs were to win (not likely) 5-3 MVFC and ND same record Dawgs would have tie breaker no? Probably a mute point.
@tj-mcflys I agree. Remember a couple of years ago. We were in a similar situation. The name SIU did not carry much weight with the selection committee.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

N. Dakota already has 7 wins, including wins over #24 UNI, S. Dakota, and YSU. One of their losses was at Nebraska. Barring a 40 point loss to NDSU, they're probably in already.
If YSU beats us, they are 7 - 4. One of their losses was at Kentucky, 31 - 0, who was ranked #9 at the time.
They have some unimpressive wins..48 - 42 over Ind. St. in Youngstown, 28-27 at awful WIU, 49-16 over non-scholarship Dayton, 31-14 at home over crappy Duquesne.
Whether or not they get in with 7 wins, if they beat us, is very borderline IMO. The MVFC is perceived as not as strong this year, so I would not be surprised if they stay at home even if they win that 7th game.
I doubt siu in playoffs, but it would be nice to win big and find out, that semo game, uni losses are killer right now, they win 1 of those games siu would still have chance at least
Great start. Up 14-0 and the offense looks unstoppable.
Let's roll and end this season on a high note.
2 bad pass interference calls against SIU allows YSU to score. One was on an interception. Unreal...
sStarting with the SEMO game how many of these ref generated touchdowns have there been this year? that late offside call set this one up for sure.
We should be up more than 14-7! Bad throw by Baker as we were driving on the final possession ends up an interception. also, I don't think Hill is very good at clock management. He had all 3 timeouts and didn't use any. Even if that ball isn't intercepted we would have only had 23 seconds left in the half! Officials have once again become a factor for SIU. We get the ball 1st in the 2nd half and have to have a sustained drive as YSU has had the ball twice as much as us on offense and our defense is going to be getting tired. Have to have a statement win to have any chance at an at large!
