Hill has improved us from Lennon, but he has a ways to go to match Jerry Kill.
I expected us to lose this game, because we have spurts where we look good, we have some talent, but in the end, we're just a bit above an average team.
Too many weaknesses.
Very fitting end to the season
Not to belabor the point or pile on, but I would also contend Hill’s clock management at the end of the first half was awful.
Dreadful end to the season, from Hill to Baker to all the penalties, etc. Pretty alarming.
Once you fall in the MVFC, it’s hard to get back up. There’s a lot of good programs that are making some noise like YSU and the top programs are always gonna be great.
We definitely need a Little Sumpin' Sumpin' - at least I do.
Good teams close that out up 21-7 in the 4th with under 12 to play. I don’t care how much the D played, 21 points in 11 minutes? Trash! Offense scores 14 in the 1st quarter and 7 the rest of the game? Trash!
laughable.
Just off the top of my head, the offense laid eggs in the second half against Illinois State, South Dakota and now Youngstown. Realize they escaped with a win in Normal, but they better figure out the causes of those regressions.

As an aside, the last score was setup by two stupid penalties on special teams and then they can’t handle a squib kick. At worst it should have been OT. Not that they would have won, but still.

Yes. Too many contests went this way this season. Mr. Reis was not very happy after the game, and he expressed those feelings. I'm wondering if SIU will ever experience another National Championship. Correct me if I am incorrect, but didn't coach Nick Hill sign an extension for five more years? I believe he needs to make some drastic changes being the person in charge. Maybe take a look at himself as coach. Getting better, worse, or staying same???
SD played a tough schedule, but were 1-5 for a reason, the other squads were better. 4th down calls were not very smart in that game, which ultimately started this skid into the abyss. SAD.

Especially when the opponent really isn't very good! Embarrassing loss! If YSU gets in, and I doubt they will, they won't go far in the playoffs.
At least they didn't blow us out like last year. (35 - 18)
@tj-mcflys Yes Hill signed a long extension. Definitely needs to make some changes and do a better job recruiting.
Biggest needs are on O and D line. We had good skill position players, but were hurt badly by injuries. Offensive play calling was too conservative on 1st and 2nd down with a lead. Will Hill open up QB competition or is it Baker again next year? Seems crazy he’s just been handed the job and not one other kid took a meaningful snap in two years. .500 and nobody gets a legit shot.
