has anyone else noticed some major slowness? I can load the board list quickly but if I click on an actual topic from it it can take upwards of 2+ minutes to load

Wow, you're not kidding. Thought I'd finally pop in here and check out the new digs, but this sucker's creeping along pretty slowly this afternoon.
Sorry for the issues @goroshnik. Something caused a significant traffic spike early yesterday and we are still trying to determine the source. Everything had been running smooth since launch. Support at the hosting company has been less than helpful.
Thanks for the report @the-goblin-king! I think we have identified the culprit and will keep a close eye on things.
