Also, to answer Morris’s point about a split, it doesn’t help people like Sambursky are talking about the system in one breath and not talking about how enrollment going down is already happening at SIUE and will get worse under Dunn.
Dunn may not be an effective college president but he is one top notch politician. He has outplayed the SIU board, specifically the Carbondale members. Now the state is probably going to favor a split. I think SIUC is checkmated here, even if Dunn gets fired, that’s just going to add to E’s resolve to split.

We've been living off e for years. The things that need to happen (reduction in staff to 90s levels or even lower, dropping useless programs, dropping our research status to let us make better decisions, etc.) cannot happen if we always have access to e funds and/or more than our fair share of the money. Sometimes you just need to pull the bandaid off quickly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but current plans do not include anything needed to get us back on track. Do I need to post Einsteins famous quote on insanity to help it make more sense?
It may be that e is better suited for the medical stuff, we need to drop the politic correctness related programs, and drop enrollment at the beginning. If we keep circling the drain, our STEM may need to go to e to maintain its viability. This is reality talking here. Imagine for a moment you have no ties to SIU and were asked to objectively assess this whole situation. Would you agree with you or agree with me?

They have a SJW issue. We have a poor management issue.

Does any of this nonsense going on at UCLA occur at SIU? This sort of this is a little frightening to say the least.

Agree with Morris here. Let’s cut to the chase, strip it down and rebuild. We keep the SIU brand and edwardsville can go to University of Edwardsville or something similar.
SIU can’t continue on this path. Time to go through some real pain and start the path back up. Anything else is just belaboring this long, long slide...
The SIUC Faculty Senate voted no confidence in Dunn. It’s just going to be more kindling on the fire of a split. E is going to get Dunn in the divorce. They’re also likely going to get a lot more money.
We’re in deep crap.

If they voted no confidence, then he must be doing something right.
