Dunn has to resign, what an asshole 

This is blowing up. He’s probably going to have to resign. 

Two state legislators have called for Dunn to resign already today, Bryant and Hays.

It does seem that SIUE has gotten stronger while SIUC has languished under Dunn's tenure.

There could be many reasons for that but as the head man he has to accept some responsibility for the disparity.

Should get interesting. Tribune is already reporting on Dunn controversy.

From the Southern comments, one that has stole a lot of my thunder...

I'd encourage everybody to slow down and read this as an opinion piece, which is what it is. I hope the Southern will run a news story that will attempt to get at the facts.

"Bitchers" is bad, and presumably factual, but anyone who's written their share of email has said worse. More importantly, it was already clear that Dunn bungled the reallocation matter--he made no effort to win over people on the SIUC campus, and thought he could just push it through with SIUE votes. He deserves criticism for that.

But this opinion piece is part of the battle between Montemagno (and his supporters, including Chwalisz and the Carbondale trustees) and Dunn (and his supporters, who, if he has them, are largely among the SIUE trustees). Dunn got caught engaged in that battle, got caught doing politics, plotting with people who supported the reallocation against people who wouldn't. Montemagno and Chwalisz are doing precisely the same thing. Is it any surprise that Terri Bryant was immediately ready to go with a call for Dunn's resignation? Or that Montemagno was ready to post about this on his blog? They were working together for a common goal (defeating Dunn). That's politics--it's unseemly, and in this case it shows that the SIU system and SIUC campus are so dysfunctional that Montemagno and Dunn are spending more time plotting against each other than working together. But it's being played on both sides.

Maybe both of them do need to go. Certainly at least one of them needs to go. Maybe the ethics investigations into Montemagno will show us if his position is salvageable.

It does seem like this counter response has come fast. It sure seems as if Chalwiscz and Montemagno are coordinating this PR blitz. This is, in no way, defending Dunn. It just seems like more politics as usual in the Carbondale swamp. The BOT and Chancellor may end up losing their positions in all this as well. 

don't hold your breath that the Southern will do much more. just running this is their way to stay at arm's length but still getting it out there. the real story will come from a chicago newspaper and further devalue your degree. this will get worse. this is only the appetizer and the southern didn't run this opinion without having more detail. they aren't risking their neck for nothing.

Can’t say I’m going to be surprised if more comes out. With the BOT, Stone House, and Anthony Hall fighting each other this openly and venomously, I am expecting it.
