Did we pay that money back? Is there a link?
"Last year, the SIU Board of Trustees approved a loan of up to $35 million to Carbondale from SIUE’s reserves. SIUC repaid the internal, no-interest loan with its share of the state funding this academic year, according to Pembrook."

It's good to see we are just incompetent and not thieves too.
“The hardest thing to explain is the glaringly evident which everybody has decided not to see.”

This is a bad university that is in the process of dying. I got a great education there no doubt, so quality of the product isn’t the issue but I would never ever recommend SIU to a person as an option at this point
I am amazed some of the commenters I'm reading seem to think everything is hunky dory now that Randy Dunn is gone, and don't seem to think it was a long string of leadership failure that got us to this point. I am glad Randy is out, but maybe we should put some scrutiny on those who appointed him? The board doesn't escape this, if anything, the spotlight on them will be shining brighter. Only a new BOT can be allowed to appoint a new President. I don't trust Amy Sholar, Phil Gilbert, Joel Sandusky, or anyone else on the board that is there to make this decision. We need new leadership across the spectrum of SIU, on both campuses. Only a new President appointed by a new board will be able to truly clean the slate and set a new direction for the SIU System.

Completely Agree! There is a string of hiring failures and general lack of good direction that has plagued SIU for years at this point. A "get well" plan needs to be developed and implemented as soon as possible in an attempt to get SIU back on the right track. This is going to be a long hard road. Getting rid of Dunn was absolutely necessary and a baby step in the overall process.
