Unfortunately u of i continues to receive the brunt of the funding and all other state schools are an after thought.
There's one thing that state funding for u of i can't fix....Champaign. In my opinion, all it takes is a visit to Champaign to quickly realize.....it's a freakin' pit. Sorry, but if you're a kid that has options regarding where they want to go to school, there are literally hundreds of schools across the country that provide more pleasing aesthetics than going to school in Champaign. In addition, considering the expense of going to school in Illinois in general, those schools that offer a more pleasing environment also offer equal if not better educational opportunities at a much more reasonable price.
@1dawg SIU gets almost as much as Edwardsville.

It makes sense that e gets more money because of enrollment since this is to go toward refunding students. As far as state funding goes, I don’t see how e should receive more funding because of enrollment. I see why they would argue that (they have nothing else on us). They are in a metropolitan area, they shouldn’t need to recruit students as hard. We are a nationally recognized university and brand with legitimate D1 athletics and research, while they run themselves as a regional university similar to EIU but with good programs. The only reason we are in this situation is poor leadership hires here and in the state of Illinois. It seems our new governor has taken a liking to the Carbondale campus (I don’t care if it’s just for downstate votes), and hopefully we make a home run chancellor hire to right the ship. Now I’ll brace for a Morris post about scaling back the administration to a 90s-level staffing.

We quite literally rob e blind because of the distribution ratio based on past enrollment numbers. We are nationally recoginized for what exactly? What vital research goes on here? How many nobel lauriettes (sp?) on the property again? We shouldn't get rewarded for continually CHOOSING to hire people unable to fulfil their roles and having a very weak board.
As always the most notable difference between now and our "glory days" is staffing levels. At some point we turned into a SJW civil service jobs program.

I'm pretty sure Morris has never awakened from a peaceful night's sleep, hopped out of bed, and started singing "Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder!" 😀

What progress has occurred since the 90s again?
