The vote to formally remove Dunn passed and Kevin Dorsey was appointed to a one-year term as interim president.
who's kevin dorsey?
retired SIU school of medicine dean
I have no idea how Kevin Dorsey will be as the SIU System president - hope he bleeds Gold or whatever the System's official color is, with a streak of Maroon, of course - but the first thought that came to mind when I read he was from the SIU School of Medicine is the attempt or consideration given to moving the Med school under the e during all the recent split shenanigans. I hope to hades he was not a part of that pure unadulterated BS.

Just thinking rationally, why is that BS?

Dorsey is a caretaker. I don’t think he can reverse the damage that Dunn caused. Only a new board can fix the damage. Everyone has to be out.
Here’s an update on restructuring. Read the tidbit on Dunn. It is a very interesting tidbit about his role in the Chancellor hiring, his stubborn loyalty to Colwell (who was bad and presided over bad enrollment declines), and the fact that Montemagno didn’t even make the original short list for Chancellor.
Dunn failed but with that additional information, the BOT looks very bad as well.
Also, regarding enrollment, Meera Kommaraju, the interim provost, has projected a 12% overall decline and an 18% decline in incoming students, worse than what is projected at places like SIUE and EIU.

They still don't acknowledge there is far too much staff and maybe teachers need to spend more time teaching.

In my opinion, I don't think you were.

So if e is better suited for all the medical stuff, then we should keep it? I'm just trying to understand where you are coming with both schools being public institutions. We're in survival mode and making "good decisions" is the thing that can provide some measure of protection. Put yourself in lawmakers shoes... If it comes down to closing 2 or 3 colleges how does our current management inspire any confidence our doors should stay open.
