Remember when Leo Dorucher took over as manager of the Cubs? He said "This is not an 8th place ball team!" The league added 2 teams and the next year they finished 10th.
“The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.”
-- Al McGuire
Domask will be the stud.
Told ya.
10th is plausible.
10th is plausible.
Extremely. Especially if Benson isn't better than what he displayed last night.
Feeling like 10th place sounds about right but I feel differently about 10th place (or 8th, 9th, whatever) than I ever did in the previous era. It's 10th place with the arrow trending upward and we know our coach won't be satisfied, will recruit his tail off and won't give us the "Oh golly gee willy" routine on the post game.
I don’t believe we can take much at all from any exhibition game.

I have no doubt that they’re gonna compete better than they have in a decade and are going to get better as the year goes on but I just don’t know where the scoring is going to come from. Really, they’re gonna need Aaron Cook to take a major step forward if the want to avoid 10th place.
There's gonna be a lot of pressure on a particular freshman to help them score the basketball.
I still think Trent Brown will play a bigger role for this team than people realize. They will need his shooting ability.

I have heard a couple of knowledgeable people say they believe Brown will redshirt. I think we need all hands on deck.

That's interesting. I can see both sides of it.
Things to keep in mind; in the era of the transfer, redshirting isn't as advantageous as it once was. Also, he may very well be the best pure shooter on the roster, and on a team challenged to score, that's a valuable asset to have at your disposal.

If/once healthy, without Brown, you’d have a 10-man rotation of Cook, McGill, Suggs, Domask, Benson, Francois, Jones, Dembele, Gooch and Davis.
Are they going to go deeper than 10 guys? Doubtful. I’m thinking redshirting Brown might be best unless the coaches think they’ll be able to utilize his shooting to make squeezing him in worthwhile. Agree that another scoring threat would be useful.
10-man rotation, makes me think of Creighton in the 2000's with Dana Altman running in 2-3 players every dead ball.
Also, if this program is ever going to turn things around, we have to have class balance. With Domask, Dembele (RS frosh), Davis and Jones and next year you add RS soph. Ben Harvey to that class, that's five in one class. If Brown doesn't redshirt, that's a six-man class, which is what happened last year with Henson and one of many reasons why we had to start all the way over this year.
Let's not forget that Barry did a lot of damage to himself where class balance is concerned. He pulled in several transfers and two year guys to squeeze out cheap wins vs building for the long-term health of the roster. Had Eric McGill not gotten hurt, he also would've been part of last years graduating class.
These days, every program will battle attrition. Whether Brown redshirts or not, I'm sure class balance won't be an issue as Bryan has pointed out its importance. That's something I can't remember the previous guy ever speaking on.
