The valley seems much improved. Does anyone happen to know if the top tier schools scheduled up for a shot at an at large bid? It seems the MVC is on track to become a multi-bid conference again.
I’ll be curious to see how the Mullins-less Ramblers look this season. They lost Custer and Townes but should be much deeper overall with a big recruiting class coming in, including a couple well-regarded JUCO guards and an Illinois Wolves-centric prep class. Obviously Krutwig should be a beast as an upperclassman and a healthy Lucas Williamson could be an all-Valley type player. I also liked Cooper Kaifes, who will be a sophomore sharpshooter.
I believe Loyola will take a fairly substantial step backwards this year. With the overall strength of the rest of the MVC much improved and the changes to their roster and coaching staff, I'm just not seeing a top 3 finish for them.

Bradley, Missouri State, and Drake should all be right up there, and with Krutwig still just a junior Loyola should be in the mix as well.
SIU could really surprise this year: with 2 senior guards, and now flanked with a Big Ten senior center in Benson, and a 6-6 senior wing in Suggs, that's a starting five in the Valley that you could really put up against anyone. If Dumask or any of the other new joins takes off, whether it be a freshman or another transfer like the guy from Nebraska one he heals, then who knows what could happen. Maybe the biggest piece will be the guy from Clemson - if he gets cleared to play this year, I may drive up to Carbondale from Atlanta for every single game.
Is it November yet?

I know Missouri State has a really strong schedule in place. Not as sure about the others.
Lol you are entitled to your opinion but you have checked out who Mo State has coming in right ?
If I remember correctly, the Big 10 champs Mich. St. made 25 of 26 FTs. That's the only reason they beat Bradley in the NCAA.
Bradley has their whole starting lineup coming back plus a transfer guard from LSU and a guard from Spain. Don't know about eligibility. Darrell Brown will be a stud.
MoST has a good transfer forward who averaged 9 ppg at WVU and a good transfer JC guard coming in. One of their good freshmen recruits isn't coming - will still be in high school - may never qualify. Several other transfers. And DaSilva.
Bradley graduated at least one full-time starter (Lautier-Ogunleye) and a couple others who started some games. They do bring most of their firepower back, but not all five starters.
Missed that. Kennell, Childs, Brown, Henry, 6' 11" Bar and 7' 1" Boya are all back. Their top three scorers are back. The LSU guard transfer (who was considered one of the very good JC guards in the country), has been declared eligible for 2019 - has two years left.
I'd be surprised if they aren't picked to win it all, not that predictions mean much. Should be a very competitive MVC - and better than last year.

Custer and Townes are gone. Krutwig and Williamson are back. They have a couple of very good freshmen, including Marquise Kennedy, one of the top guards in the state (25 ppg.)
Also Tate Hall, a transfer 6'6" guard who was 1st team all-conference in D2 Great Lakes Valley Conference and freshman of the year in that conference for the U. of Indianapolis becomes eligible!
I think Loyola will be pretty darn good.

I just can't buy into Moser. Without Mullins and some of the unknowns/youth at key guard positions, I'm just not sold.
Also, as much as I love Krutwig, I think he's close to his ceiling already. I'm not sure he gets much better in his upperclassmen years.

On the MVC coaches teleconference today, Moser said Cooper Kaifes will miss the year after undergoing labrum surgery. That's a significant loss for them - he was on the all-freshman team last year and is going to be a nice player, especially offensively.
It is way too early to predict the 2019/20 basketball season, but here it is anyway.

well, last in our conference, record of 11-20 and #245 overall. No where to go but up and I will be a little surprised if we don't do better than that.
Yes, and it is based off of stats posted for players who haven't seemed to have had the a ability to play to their full potential. I think this will be an exciting year and hopefully will surprise a lot of people!

I think with an easier non-conference schedule and gradual improvement as the season goes on with coaching, we should win at least a few more than 11 games. But then again, it’s so hard to predict.
What is a successful season? How about a .500 record with 6-7 home conference wins. It probably matters less than I think. We have begun on a tough journey. The most important part is that we have started.

I am sure as a new coach, there will be mistakes and missteps.
Growth, improvement and staying healthy is key.
1- Win at Home.
2- Win the close games (loose by 20 not good, as we were on the ropes from the beginning, loose by less than 5, we could have won! Don't give away the low hanging fruit!)
3- Play hard and practice harder. basic skills, passes, ball movement and shots.
4- Communicate on and off the court, help each other.
I feel if coach Mullins has it his way we will see alot of low scoring/grind it out close games. Hopefully we come out on top in a good amount of them.
