Lets go ahead and start a thread on this as we start to get possible defections and commits.
Hefferman just tweeted that Mullins says all current Salukis and Jones and Payton are all on board as of now. So here is what we have.
Cook, McGill, D. Beane, Gooch, Fall, Dembele, Schafer, Payton, Jones. Adding J. Beane as a question mark? Am I missing any?
Take this with a grain of salt...
No offense to anyones inside info... but if coach says darius and jimmy are on board I am trusting it until he says otherwise... LETS GOOO!!!!
We should believe mullins till hes proven wrong. Hes no hinson
Ah, he addresses Jimmy directly here. Hoping a few of the promising young pieces stick around.

You can pencil Benson in as the starting 5, given the other post alternatives are so raw.
For the sake of this hypothetical exercise, let's assume the prevailing board rumors are true, and that Darius stays, but Jimmy Beane and Chris Payton are not part of the mix.
Starters: Cook, McGill, Beane, ??? and Benson. You'd think that the other starter would have to have at least some size since there are three small-sh guards in the lineup. Gooch and Shafer seem like the most likely candidates, although Southern likely will still add another player or two to the roster. Ideally, it would be great to add a long wing or power forward who can help right away.
I'm assuming Dembele is too offensively challenged to be on the floor at the same time as Benson for extended stretches. It's a shame Payton has the offcourt question marks because from a size/skill set standpoint, he'd probably fit in with this group pretty nicely.
The offers to Harvey and Reeves are not first come first Serve. That means at least one of the two has to be gone. Since there is also a JUCO out methinks that answers your question . Trust the grid

Don’t sell Sekou short as a possible starter at the 4, if we don’t get a JUCO. He’s 6-7 230 and strong. I’m sure we have a target for that spot.
Ok I am going to address the Jimmy/Chris situation the best I can.
Beane: we get a lot of people messaging us info. Most we check out and see if we can find confirmation. 2nd level is the Woods,Illini and a few others we know what they are saying is fact. Then there is a level above that. If they say it then it is fact this is the level of person who gave us this. He said Jimmy would not even be here next year even if Uncle Beane was still here. Add to that we got another rumor was he might be think about playing overseas. We are still checking some things on that. Bottom line Jimmy will not be here next year .
Chris: this one is tricky . He has been selling himself out everywhere trying to get another ride. Unfortunately nobody else is biting. Chris himself said he was too good to play JUCO. He quit his HS team because the coach would not make changes for him. Grades are a huge question mark also. Again Nobody other than Henson wanted any part of this kid. If and it is a big if he does Qualify he could realistically I guess come here. This is not a Mullins type player and will never play a minute at SIU
hope that helps

So if we count these two scholarships as available, Bryan is still looking to fill 3 scholarships at this point?

I am confused. I thought we were looking good for both Reeves and Harvey? Also, assuming Jimmy goes wouldn't that free up one more scholarship? It has become very confusing with the odd situations with Payton and Jimmy.
A thought regarding Payton as well... Lets assume he ends up coming, we have to at least be open to the idea that under the right leadership and guidance he checks his attitude and could potentially earn a role on this team moving forward. If he does come I really don't see Bryan as someone who would push him to the side but rather he would see it as a opportunity to help a young man and possibly get a heck of a player out of it. Approaching it in any other way would be very much like the last regime.. not this one.
BK can you clarify the Reeves/Harvey situation? Which one appears to still be on the radar? Or are both still in play?

Both
Really confusing why a kid would pay his own way to come to a specific school, and then that school not even be on his table of options at the time his choice would start paying off. I trust the info on here. It's just a head-scratching situation.

We were told there were multiple reasons and grades could be a problem
