I'm trying to imagine an athletic director making that first call to Barry Hinson's representation...

This seems dumb. Anderson has made the tourney there a few times, won tourney games, and recruited some NBA talent there.
Tim Miles on the other hand underachieved at Nebraska and deserved to go. Rumor has it they might be interested in Fred Hoiberg.

Miles should have no problem landing a job elsewhere if he wants to.

First reports out of Tuscaloosa was that Alabama and AJ Sr. were in negotiations for his departure. This was the last year of eligibility for AJ Jr. Could be that Sr. just wanted to go back to coaching in the NBA since his son was done at the NCAA level.
