Same. I remember in the 2000s, I would be in constant excited anticipation for the next SIU game. They were literally the highlights of my week.
I'm feeling that again for the first time since Dillard/Hare/Bocot/Booker were freshmen. We still had Mullins and expectations were high with that freshman class. The UMass game was actually one of the most electric arena games I ever attended. But reality soon sunk in that year and it has never been the same again.
Even when Hinson had a few lightning in a bottle moments, it was really hard for me to get behind because it always felt fake. But these guys are so easy to root for.
Thank you Coach Mullins for giving us a program to be proud of again.
