Loyola is going to have to shell out more money than Drake and UNI had to for DeVries and Jacobson. Maybe they can do 7 years, $14M. That would still be less than he will probably be offered by BCS programs. Hope he says. Would be great for mvc to have Moser, DeVries and Jacobson locked up long term!
Porter Moser outcoached Brad Underwood not only in-game and on adjustments, but the scouting report as well.
Better than sex. Are you fucking kidding me, baby!!!
Sister Jean better sell more bobble heads if she wants to keep Porter. I know he wants to stay in Chicago, but the DePaul job is open.... I think Porter chooses happiness at more than a million a year over the god-awful DePaul job
I think Porter might be one of those guys that looks at others lured by the bright lights, 7 figure contracts and the pressure of winning at a Power 5 school and says; "Nah, that's not for me."
*”Nah, that’s not for me, but I want a raise”
That would be the smart play as he'll fail away from Loyola.

As I figured, about 5 minutes following the big Loyola/MVC victory would see the entrance of the d bag trolls.....
Two things:
1) I’ll openly admit I was totally wrong about Loyola. Back when the MVC added them to replace Creighton I really tore into the move as a step down. Man has that turned out to be wrong.
2) how freaking amazing is Moser’s career turn around? He completely belly flopped in the valley last time around and here he is getting the tournament and making surprise runs. Fun fact for the shocker snobs, Porter has now matched Marshall’s two best NCAA tournament runs
It's all a matter of how you look at it. Mullins finished under .500 in his first 2 seasons, which is very similar to how Moser did at Illinois State after 2 seasons. We totally give Mullins a break bc "it takes time to build a program up", but many called (and still call) Moser a bum and say he can't coach. That is simply unfair. The reality is that we are biased bc we love Mullins (I have yet to meet a single person who doesn't like him). I have NO doubts that Mullins will build a winner here at SIU. Honesty my expectations are very high. But I think it's time to start giving credit to Loyola and specifically Moser. This is not directed at one specific Saluki fan, just in general.

You weren't reay wrong. With the information you had at the time Loyola was a puzzling addition.
Loyola had had one NCAA appearance in the 45 years prior to joining the conference and hadn't been to the dance in 28 years.
They were perennial bottom feeders in the Horizon.
The Chicago media barely acknowledged them and they had little to no fan support.
Gentile Arena at the time wouldn't have even been considered a decent high school gym.
And they were coached by a guy who had coached in the Valley but didn't have success.
It has worked out great but was a truly puzzling decision at the time.

A very big part of the decision was based on the Chicago market. MVC wanted in that huge market! Better conference also means more money for the school. Also, I'm sure Loyola made a commitment to the MVC to make a concentrated effort to improve the program exponentially.
57 years ago Loyola kicked the crap out of Illinois on their way to be 1963 NCAA national champions. I went to a Catholic high school up north and they were our heroes. In scrimmages we all wanted to be Ronnie Miller or Johnny Dean or Jerry Harkness. Go Ramblers, go MVC!

Baylor looks better than any team I've seen play yet in this tourney. Going to take someone's absolute best to beat them.
I’ve been reading some sports reviews and found out that the real reason UICU lost was because the NCAA seeded LU 8th and Illinois couldn’t expect Loyola to be that good. You know them coming from a “minor” conference and all.

Yeah, Loyola got screwed more than Illinois. 8 seed and played what most thought was the 2nd best team in the Tournament in the 2nd round. They didn't make excuses though. Meanwhile, Illinois would never play Loyola outside of the Tournament.
No one thought the American Kyler Filewich would win the battle between him and Cockburn, but he most certainly did!!!!

I don’t have to give credit if I don’t want to 😁
fine I might have been a little hard on him. That being said the Marquette job is a serious threat
Whether they win or lose. The fact that the committee only thought Loyola was worthy of an 8-Seed is a joke
No shiat. The top 4 in the NET rankings (the NCAA's replacement for the RPI) got the #1 seeds. The next 4 got the #2 seeds! Loyola was #10. (and Colgate was #9!) How da f does that compute?
C'mon, you guys are forgetting about the most important metric of all: the "eye test"!
