Can’t expect more though 🤣
I dont have much against it, tbh. They were able to secure a series against OK State. Traveling to USI is not ideal but they get two guaranteed home games out of it. Decent MTE.
The only downside is the D2 game. That is inexcusable, especially with two fewer OOC games needed.
Sad that they don't play WKU anymore and that the Winthrop series wasn't extended.

Interesting take. Ya know, that sub-200 average NET has nothing to do with Lincoln (which doesn't count for metrics purposes) and everything to do with the parade of DI cupcakes on the home schedule.
It doesn't matter if it counts for "metrics". They have a decent enough slate away from SIU to where they could absorb a bit of a bad batch of games at home.
No D1 school should have a non-D1 team on its regular season schedule. Heck if it were up to me, playing any non-D1 outside of Chaminade in the tournament in Hawaii would make you ineligible for postseason tournaments.
Mid majors are increasingly trying to schedule home games only and are refusing the classic H/H model and it needs to stop. Look at Illinois State last year. They had 8 home games in their OOC schedule. Without the 2 non-D1 games they still would have had six.
This type of scheduling has as much to do with the conference downturn as Creighton and Wichita leaving.

Apparently they can't absorb the "bit of a bad batch" of home games unless a schedule NET in the 200s is acceptable to you. Oh wait, nevermind, you've decreed that metrics don't matter ... someone alert the selection committees.
I will agree that non-DI games are pretty pointless, especially since there are multiple other soft games on SIU's schedule that should be easy wins. I also don't get why more decent mids are so reluctant to schedule home-and-home series.
I find it hard to believe that SIU can’t get a home and home with a good MAC program like Toledo, Akron, or Ohio.
A little birdie just informed me of some good news coming soon on the schedule front

Hopefully the D2 game replaced by a good H/H series.
@quatroschallengesaluki I said that myself in a radio interview in which I was the guest. As I mentioned earlier in this thread I messed up and failed to ask Mullins about SLU in the interview I did with him. I will when we get to that game. SIU needed the revenue from a guarantee game, but couldn't find anyone, and wanted to SLU to play the game they owed in CArbondale. SLU offered the guarantee and SLU wanted the date it was supposed to play at SIU for another team. So, SIU took the money it was looking for anyway and moved the SLU home game to 2023-24. I get those not happy about being bought by SLU. But, the option is make SLU honor the contract this year and they never want to play SIU again or make them default on the contract, take their buyout money, and they never want to play SIU again. This 23-24 game was actually supposed to be played in 2021-22. I did ask Mullins about that last yar publicly. SLU didn't want to play here on the scheduled date last December and SIU didn't want to move it todate SLU wanted. So they didn't play at all!! The SLU series has been precarious since I've been here.
I've always been under the assumption SLU perceives that they are something they are not.
So what is up with the Oct 29 Alalbama exhibition game mentioned on this board? I can’t find any info on it.
