So it appears the Alabama game is a closed scrimmage after all. 😢

Alabama game is a charity exhibition, not a closed scrimmage. K State is a closed scrimmage.
I'm trying to find tickets / info on the Bama game; if I can make it from Atlanta I'll report back.

I was going by what MVC Hoops posted:
Bradley-SLU, SIU-Kansas St, SIU-Bama, Missouri St-Wichita St, and UNI-Wisconsin highlight the secret scrimmages!

Think he's confused. The Kansas St one is a secret scrimmage. Alabama sounds like a charity exhibition that's open to the public.

Any word on the Bama/TCU outcome? Just curious.
Also, assuming the game was this past Sunday, as opposed to the September 16th date given in the press release.
March on triumphantly!
Sunday October 16 the way I read it.
From the announcement: The way I read it.
The Alabama men’s basketball team will play in two tune-ups before its 2022-23 season tips off.
The Crimson Tide will travel to play TCU in a closed scrimmage Sunday, Sept. 16.

Considering these preseason scrimmages/exhibitions don't happen in September and Oct. 16 is a Sunday (while Sept. 16 isn't), I would call it case closed ...

Agree and not trying to quibble. Just trying to confirm my assumption (always dangerous) and find out who won?

All good. When we're scrutinizing another team's preseason schedule this closely, you know we're all getting antsy for some actual Saluki basketball to discuss. 😀
Charity exhibition is official:

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois Basketball will face Alabama in a preseason charity exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. CT inside Foster Auditorium, the two programs announced Friday.
The teams will play a full 40-minute regulation game. Proceeds from the contest will benefit the Community Service Programs of West Alabama's Alberta Head Start Program as a social injustice initiative supporting the local community.
If we’re going to have secret scrimmages and charity tune-ups, doesn’t that take away the only reason to play a non-D1 team on the schedule?
I'm certainly all about eliminating non-D1 teams on the schedule. It only hurts SIU. There's nothing positive about it other than filling out a shitty schedule.
