Last year's home schedule was awful. I like that we already have 3 D1 home games locked in with a potential 5 games open (assuming we do play at SEMO). Nice start to the home non conference schedule.
Agreed !!! I also think we're better equipped this year to face stronger competition.
Not to mention we automatically get a better home slate with Murray State and Belmont coming to the arena for MVC home play this year. UIC isn't a bad add to the home slate either. Would rather add them to the slate than a non D1 placeholder. I'll miss the Loyola games at home, which had replaced Creighton and Wichita State as potential Top 25 rivalry games at least once a year. Hopefully Murray and Belmont can help fill that void.
I think they're planning to do 20 MVC games (not 22), so it won't be a true round robin ... one of the cons of going to 12 teams. So, I guess there will be two teams everyone only plays once, and I'm sure that will rotate year to year for as long as they stay at 12 teams.
I'm sure the teams that only get one Evansville date this year will file a formal complaint with the league office. 😀
I am still coming out of Blues Playoff mode after last night but wouldn't they be at a 20-game round robin with 11 teams (adding Murray and Belmont and dropping Loyola)???
EDIT: Crap, I forgot about UIC.

Yes. That game was a heartbreaker for sure. But yea, UIC makes it where we don’t do the round robin anymore.
We will do a 20 game schedule . We will play 9 teams twice and two teams once each, with each team having 10 home games. Most conferences rotate who those teams will be year to year but some don't schedule the perceived top teams against the perceived lower two teams so that it doesn't weaken their schedule. Cant imagine we would ever do 16 games as it is already hard enough to get a quality non conference schedule and making it a 15 game non conference schedule would make no sense.
First two games are on the schedule

Monday, November 7th vs Little Rock
Saturday, December 10th vs Alcorn State (guess they're coming back after being added last minute last year and almost beating us)
This is going to be another horrid schedule, isn't it?

two games against Murray State, two against Belmont, UNLV, hopefully Minnesota, SLU, Alcorn State (not an eye popper, but they did win their league and play in the NIT last year) Tennessee State, Little Rock ( worst game on the schedule probably) .... so far it doesn't look too bad to me. More games still to add, but that is already much improved over last season.
Our MTE this year will include NIL opportunities, guessing this will be the norm going forward
I don't think the schedule is looking too bad. It's definitely improved over last year.
As your team improves and gains experience your schedule should reflect that and that seems to be the case this year
First Heard in St Louis that the SIU vs Saint Louis game is being played at Chafitez. Apparently it has become a 2-1 Hearing SLU will play in Carbondale next year.
Stu Durando is now reporting this on his twitter page.
Last year we played a pay game at Tulsa and now St Louis isn’t returning a contracted game to Carbondale. Very disappointing.

Didn’t Mullins himself say that SLU was coming to Carbondale? I was thinking I heard that from him in an interview with Reis.

Even more irritating considering SLU was supposed to have come to Carbondale last year, too. I think some of the posters’ Murray disdain should be reserved for the Billikens.
Looks like another crappy home non-conference schedule. Mullins really needs to improve his scheduling. Hopefully he pulls a rabbit out of his hat on the last couple of games to be scheduled. Good thing the MVC is going to a 20 game schedule. Which will in fact improve our home schedule.
As long as there are no non-D1 games I'll be happy. With two fewer OOC games, wasting one on a D2 or D3 would be inexcusable.
