My observations from tonight.
I thought Dalton Banks was very aggressive and impressive on offense.
As expected, Scottie Ebube will be a load in the paint on both sides of the ball.
Cade Hornecker is not afraid to take contact when taking the ball to the basket.
AJ Ferguson showed a lot of hustle and tenacity on both sides of the ball. He seemed to always want to guard Marcus Domask (the opposing teams best player) while on defense.
Clarence Rupert appeared to position himself on the court more as a 4 than a 5.
Anyone else going to the open practice tonight?
I was there tonight. I learned absolutely nothing as far as who will get playing time and who will start. I can confirm 3 things though.
1. The obvious. Domask is still our best player, and its not close.
2. It is an absolute joy to watch Foster Wonders shoot the ball. I hope his overall game is good enough to keep him on the floor. Lightning fast release.
3. Jones is not participating in practice at the moment, as Barkeep said he didn't play at K State either.
Some fans have forgotten about Foster Wonders. He can shoot the ball!

That is something I forgot to mention. Yes, Banks looked really good. He was also knocking down some shots. We’ve obviously seen him struggle from 3 throughout his career. It would be nice if he could start hitting those in games.

I don't know how to take point #1...everyone else just isn't that good or Domask just keeps getting better. We are eventually going to need someone on that level to replace him. My hope was Troy D'Amico would take a big step this off-season. Get more comfortable with his shot and develop a bit more of his post up game. Hopefully we still have 1 more year with both him and Jones.
Appreciate the observations and comments on last night's event. Can't wait for season, but now seriously wondering about Jones.
Any information/update?
March on triumphantly!

Southern has asked A LOT of Domask and Jones to carry the load offensively these past few years, and it's only gotten the team so far. No doubt more offensive contributions will be needed from other guys if the Salukis are going to live up to their top-100 KenPom, top 3 in the Valley preseason billing.
That's not to say both Domask and Jones can't also up their games ... both guys have some areas to hopefully improve on this year in terms of their offensive efficiency.
Alabama website put up a “listen” link for the exhibition on Saturday so possible those not going can at least listen to the game

The thing is that Domask just looked really good. I felt that overall, the practice looked good. It is just that Domask stands out. Also, he seemed to drive more to the basket and use his body, whereas last year he seemed to be a back to the basket player all the time. Hopefully this is a sign that he is actually fully healthy and he is even a bigger offensive threat than in years past. Keep in mind, he might be able to win conference player of the year I believe. He SHOULD stand out.

Shooting the ball was never in question. I'd love to hear how he looked on D in the scrimmage. The only play I saw him against K St, he was getting beat on a drive, but again that was only one drive. But as I've stated before, he himself said he was NOT ready to play last year due to the speed of the game, so it is a legitimate concern IMO.

SIU 2nd tier
Actually, if you read through the Twitter comments, the author mentions that SIU should be bolded, indicating (if I understand correctly) that he has SIU as the auto-qualifier. Very exciting, but not sure how much I can put stock in that.
