I think Saint Louis is on Saturday, December 2nd

Yes, looks that way. That first week of December with SLU and Oklahoma State back-to-back at the arena could be season-defining, or at least defining of the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Â
I guess that depends on one's expectations for this upcoming season. As most see it, this is a rebuild year where it may take awhile (if at all) for it to come together. I personally am excited about the core of the team but feel it may take until conference season (or next year) for the team to gel. It's really too bad that Coach wasn't able to (or didn't if he could) take the team on a summer tour. This would have been the perfect season for it with all the new faces. Â

I think the rule is that you can take a summer trip once every 4 years. Not sure when SIU took it's last trip. Seems like they went to Canada in the last few years.
Â
Sure hope we hear some news soon about our remaining schedule, especially the P5 away game. We did not learn of the Oklahoma State game until sometime in September, or perhaps early October? So could be waiting a bit longer providing that is a real possibility.Â

While I get there are a lot of question marks and roster changes going into the year, you don’t get back-to-back home games like those hardly at all in this era, and it is Mullins’ fifth year. No idea if they can win one or both of those games but I do know it would be deflating and a huge missed opportunity not to compete in those high-profile home games. SLU is also in somewhat of a transition/rebuild, FWIW.
Agree it would have been a logical summer for a trip.

Pretty sure the team went to Cuba in Hinson's last year

We've got to be down to just a few MVC teams that haven't released their non-conference schedules yet. Curious to see how it is rounded out.
I would hope everyone involved with SIU basketball would expect to beat SLU at home. I certainly do.im not sure the schedule means all that much if the team isn't good enough to win some tough games. Certainly it helps with fan engagement and making $$. It all comes down to winning the MVC, or winning MVC tournament. I think that is a reasonable expectation for SIU basketball for now
SIU will host Austin Peay on December 12th

Inside sources have confirmed remainder of non-conference to be announced likely at the start of or towards mid - next week. 🙂
Folks are gonna be happy. We most certainly need to win these big challenges and make the next step.
GO DAWGS!!!
I saw the Atlantic-10 posted their conference schedule to 2023-24. It appears they have a deal with the ESPN networks to televise Friday night games this season.Â
Great home schedule. Can't remember a season when there was only one true road game on the non-conference slate ... that's BCS-style. 😛Â
