🤣This horse has been dead for years but Spike is obsessed with beating it.
March on triumphantly!
@spike scheduling will only get tougher with all of the conference realignment and sometimes you have to play who can and is playing a D2 school worse than playing a team in the bottom of the net rankings that causes your net ranking to tank unfortunately as much as I agree with you you have to play the situation as it is
Yes. Playing a D2 Is infinitely worse. If it were up to me there would be harsh penalties for playing any non D1 school.
Either way. Why not take a buy game at a P5? There is literally only one road game on the schedule.

Sadly, Mullins does not agree to a public debate with Spike about the merits of a non-Division I opponent, but he does comment at some length on the non-conference schedule here.
He also talks about moving on offensively, post-Marcus and Lance, with the new-look team, saying he sees potential for more consistent ball movement, a faster tempo and more offensive rebounding with the team's length/size. That all sounds good ... let's see it in action. Hard not to be nervous about where the points will come from, preferably adding up to 70+ most nights.

Perhaps Matt Painter would give us that game? Would most certainly help our SOS and would assist our Athletic Department as well with much needed revenue. Might be more beneficial than being a guest speaker at the opening banquet. Right?
My expectations are pretty low with this team, I have them around .500 in conference and overall which is a huge step back in Year 5. But I’m open to being surprised like I’ve been with football so far because I felt similar about both programs 2 weeks ago. All I want to see is an arrow pointing up for the program after this year.

Losing by 40 to Purdue wouldn't help! LOL
I'm not as vehement about it as Spike, but I agree playing a non-D1 that is not an exhibition is not helpful. We could play New Orleans twice like Barbecue did.
Is Ohio Dominican D1 yet? 😀

Did Spike login to the wrong account? Almost verbatim from his previous post 😉. The non-D1 game is the first game of the season for a team with a ton of new players (at least new to playing with each other) and you want them to go play a Power 5? It also won't kill their NET ranking. I have no idea if we will be in a position for that to matter, but lower D1 vs D2...it unfortunately makes more sense to go D2. I don't love it, but it makes sense given the context of this particular game.
Some SIU fans, "I can't believe Duke, North Carolina, Illinois, Purdue, etc won't play us. Do they think they're too good for us?". Some SIU (often the same) fans, "I can't believe we schedule these weak teams, we're too good for them". 🤔

I like the idea of playing a buy game at a p5, take the money, I'm sure SIU needs it, and it could help build a better program. Who cares if it's a loss, it's not likely to get an at large bid anyway this year, and it's very possible SIU will lose to a crap team at some point. What happened to SEMO game?
Win the mvc, or mvc tournament!

Anybody know when the first day of practice is?
Tick tock...................when is the conference schedule coming out?
