Six is a large number for sure..... but.... Benson wasn’t coming back he graduated, same with McGill. Gooch wasn’t a starter or even a 10 min a gm guy. Davis, didn’t show enough to make us better. The big guy from Europe was a non factor. Francois did feel like to me he could have been a good 6 th man and Cook would have been just one more year. So keeping all those guys doesn’t help Domask to the finish line either. Programs are built differently today. I think we are on the right track!

hopefully we see bigs soon Need a couple Guards as brown and Baker are the entire bench
I’m not panicked like some are on here. The difference between filling roster spots this year and last year is that Bryan has been on the job and recruiting guys to SIU for more than a couple weeks. He will find his guys, we are a couple good bigs away from being a contender. Be patient. I have faith he can find a couple bigs and some bench pieces, along with some future starters.

It goes like this: "When you said that, you didn't show well."
...kind of an adult, mature way of suggesting that a comment, query, criticism, complaint or observation really doesn't hit the mark (usually in more ways than one).
In my view this expression applies to anyone who suggests that the Aaron Cook decision to leave SIU is a good thing for SIU MBB...or even a thing that will be easy/simple to work through.
It is not a good thing for SIU MBB.
In a number of ways (some seen, some unseen)...and no matter what happens next year (even a post-season appearance!), basketball life at Banterra would be better with a fifth-year senior at the controls in the backcourt.
And anyone who doesn't see it that way...you can have your opinion, but you're not showing well.
But by all means keep posting here! This is a fan site. Fan is short for fanatic!!

This site serves as a nice COVID-19 distraction for me...
(1) US COVID-19 statistics (February 29, 2020-June 16, 2020): 2,124,000 reported cases and 115,052 deaths
(2) Donald Trump (June 15, 2020) told a group of senior citizens that there would be very few cases of COVID-19 if the US stopped its testing and contact tracing: "If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases, actually."
(3) Donald Trump [(Jan 20, 2020), when asked if he's worried about a pandemic]: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”

Cook leaving did not surprise the staff at all. It has been known for a while. He actually could have come back and played this year.
it is not a good thing. It is also not that bad of a thing
From my perspective, getting a few quality bigs is more of a concern than AC's departure. Disappointed he's gone, but that's not our weak spot. We get some bigs, should be in good shape. And I believe we will. No loss of optimism here.
March on triumphantly!
I'm assuming Aaron recently got word that his medical hardship waiver was granted so he would have another year of eligibility. The NCAA usually does not grant those for players until after the season is over.
Sorry to see this young man go. I'm sure his parents, along with Aaron, will make a good decision. More sorry that he had the season ending injury. I think it was significant in the performance of the team this year. Also, hope we don't see him in a SLU uniform. I like to see St. Louis metro players succeed at SIU.
Told y’all back in January he was gone
Well aren't you special!!! 🙂
Well, now at least you know a few of us weren't just "trying to stir sh*t" as you put it. Maybe next time you'll listen to us.
The Coaching Staff has been prepared for Cook's departure for awhile. If you need proof, all you need to do is look at the offers we have out and who we've been recruiting. I'm confident we will sign an experienced PG to step in while Dalton Banks develops.

One of the best posts I've read in a very long time, and not just on this board.
As a singular event, Cook's departure doesn't hurt the team too much. Similarly, neither did Francois or Davis. But when added all up, 6 spots is a lot of to fill. Not only does if mean you need to fill a lot of open spots, but it means you have to HIT on a lot more than if you had a larger, stronger core. Maybe not Cook's departure alone, but all of them combined weaken the team.
@barkeep-1967 I have learned not to disregard anything that Barkeep says about inner workings of SIU basketball.
