What is most disappointing about the fore mentioned group is the lack of 4 year players with only Sean O'Brien being mentioned all the others are transfers either in or out not the best way to build or sustain a program
Hey- it ain’t easy running a blossoming BBQ sauce start-up biz and coaching a D1 b-ball program! Recruiting really eats up a lot of time that could be better spent stocking the shelves of the arena with BBQ sauce...dadgumit!

James Madison
It’s just too depressing. Pick a top 5 from 2000-2009, and compare to the next decade, let’s see.....Darren Brooks, Kent Williams, Roland Roberts, Big Game Jermaine, Bryan Mullins, etc., etc.
How dare you not mention Tony and BMF individually 🤣
Add in guys like Shaw and Hairston, and I know who I’d put my money on in a matchup of the 2000s second team vs. the 2010s first team.
Tatum. Could even sneak in a Carlton Fay, although I think he qualifies for both teams, iirc, but yeah, what the hell happened to the talent? No comparison.

Been poking around in the Saluki stats!
Not sure why anybody would consider slow-footed Teague - had potential, but was a far better shot with a BB gun than with a basketball. Mamadou Seck, Jeff Early, and certainly Armon Fletcher were far better players. I'd take Sean Lloyd or Carlton Fay over Teague any day of the week. Lloyd was a better defender, rebounder , and scorer. Fay was a far better offensive player.
Teague's best and last year, averaged 8.6 ppg and 5.3 rbs - only 10 blocks and 5 steals. So so for a 6' 9" guy.
Armon FLetcher: 16.5ppg, 6.1 rbs, 33 steals
Mamadou Seck: 13.3ppg, 7.9 rbs, 32 steals - (Jr. year 10.8 ppg, 8.1 rbs) - outstanding rebounder, better than Falker!
Jeff Early: 13 ppg, 7.2 rbs, 51 steals (BM-type numbers) - outstanding rebounder, tough defender, especially for his size
I think the choice of Teague was based on his talent/potential, rather than what he did at SIU.
I agree with you: such a team should be based on players' performances at SIU, not how good they turned out to be elsewhere. (For the record, his last year at Seton Hall he averaged ~11 pts. and 8 RBs/game in the Big East--pretty danged good, but again not SIU stats.) If it was based on how good a player turned out to be post-SIU, then I'll take Jordan Caroline, please. 😃
FWIW, my team:
Jackson, A Beane, Pippen, Fletcher, Cook
6th man: SOB
SOB would be first team if he had ever learned to shoot FTs.
The choice of Cook is based in large part on what I hope he does this year.
2nd Team:
Seck, Lloyd, Bola, Rodriguez, Early
Wow, the talent really drops off, doesn't it? Yikes. I had a hard time coming up with a fifth starter for the first team.
(Inflammatory political snark)
As much the last decade has sucked, I really enjoyed watching a lot of the players listed. Even the JUCO transfers like Early, Rodriguez, and Seck would have fit in well on our good teams.

Same here. There is no arguing that the three you mention, along with O'Brien and Lloyd, had heart and played their a$$e$ off.
I know we're trying not to rehash the mistakes of the BH years over and over, but it still really sticks in my craw that Lloyd's freshman year was wasted. He could have been a redshirt senior this year and a real beast.
