I figured the Dawgs had to shoot 50 percent from the arc to stay in this one, and had they gotten half of their ten shots to fall in the first half, we're looking at just a 4-point deficit.

They were doing a nice job at keeping Loyola off of the offensive boards for the first 15 minutes, but got a bit sloppy there at the end.

Go crazy from three in the second half and make this a game!

If this is the last time we D'Avanzo I'm glad he's going out giving it his all

I think he comes back

Good. Even if we'll be a lot deeper at the position next year he will play a role

He could be a good guy off the BENCH and playing the 4 next year.  I would not mind, however, if he decided to move on.

...and I think we're done now.  Loyola's nailing threes, SIU can't hold onto the ball, and it's a 22-point deficit with 16 minutes to go.

It would've been fun to see this matchup at full strength, but without Domask and Jones, it's just too tall an order here.

This is gonna get into 30+ point blowout range soon.  Loyola just got 3 offensive rebounds on one possession after hitting a 3 and getting a foul off the ball.

I don't think the Ramblers had a single offensive board in the first 14 minutes of the game, but they've gotten 7 since then.  Ouch.

I find that puzzling.

We need the Vanz - he's had some games where he hasn't done much but also some really good games. He's a good player we can use next year.

D'Avanzo coming back next year won't take up a scholarship, don't see why you wouldn't bring him back if he wants to be back.  As we found out this year, the more depth the better.

Filewich needs to switch to the Rick Barry underhand FT and practice all summer. He's going to get fouled a lot next few years. Otherwise, his career may be notable for the

hack-a-wich! 47% FT shooter.

If you listen to college coaches, all coaches - basketball, baseball, softball, etc - they will tell you that the actual season is the easy part - you just "roll the ball out" and play! The real grind - the true 16-hour daily grind - is in the offseason. All of the behind-the-scenes work that goes in of which the casual fan doesn't even know. 6am strength and conditioning programs, 3-hour practices, team meetings, player meetings, etc.

This is an exciting time coming up. This offseason. Saluki Basketball will reload a healthy Lance Jones and Marcus Domask, while improving Kyler Filewich's strength and footwork. Ben Harvey can be all-MVC if he decides to "hit the ground running" and mentally and physically commit to taking that next step, which I believe he is capable of doing. Dalton Banks and Steven Verplanken will benefit from a year's experience of Division 1 ball and the three incoming recruits will compliment all this very well, IMO. They seem to be blue-collar, hard-nosed kids ready to work and join the Saluki culture that Mullins is looking to build.

I guess I'm dreaming bigger than a guy brought in to stretch the floor as a "big" who shot 28% from deep, can't play D and is severely overmatched at the 5.  As I said, if he comes back, he'd be a good addition off the bench, but I would prefer to have stronger, faster and better athletes myself that can lock down on the D and rebound.
