After watching yesterday's game from the Enterprise Center, I'm back in the camp of BIGs OR BUST for next season. Marcus Domask is not a power forward and doesn't do well covering low post players. Domask is a pure small forward. Let him play to his strengths. With the loss of Benson, SIU absolutely hast to land TWO low post players for next season....or they're going to be in trouble. It's a bit concerning to me that we haven't seen SIU in on any low post players at the high school level. Mullins & Co have to be looking at JUCOs and the transfer portal at this point. Anxious to see what they can accomplish here. Next season hinges on it.
I'm rarely accused of being OVERLY optimistic, but I genuinely have little concern over the fact that this staff will sign at least one post player for next season that will come out of either the JUCO ranks or transfer portal. Players see what this team has done, they see the success the Freshmen had, they see Banks (a top recruit in WI) coming in along with Butler and they saw the revitalized career Benson just had. This team is going to work even harder this offseason and I think you'll be very happy with the results.

If you have time to search in Verbal Commits they are in on several high school bigs.
There are a lot of plays that determine a win/loss in a close game like this. I remember 2 back to back possessions in the last "quarter" that really hurt us. The first was a good interception of a pass by Bradley, the second was another pass thrown errantly directly to a Bradley player. I don't remember if they scored, but it was 2 opportunities for us that we missed.

Mullins and staff know what they have. They know that with the right personnel additions they can win big next year. I think the reason we haven't heard much about being in on high school bigs, at least for 2020, is because they're eying big guys that will fit their system and also be able to come in and make a big impact immediately. They're much more likely to find that through the transfer portal and the JUCO ranks, and they aren't even able to talk to potential transfers until the seasons officially over.
I've no doubt they have their eyes on a few potential great fits with what they have returning. It is longing to watch teams like Bradley and wonder about what a couple of lengthy, athletic 7 footers could add to the mix.
