Per happening hoops
“Word on the street is the Oklahoma job could be filled as early as today. I have multiple sources telling me Porter Moser will be the next head coach at Oklahoma. #MVCHoops #Big12”
Mullins to Loyola???
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
I get the sense HappeningHoops doesn’t really know anything and just wants to be “famous” on twitter.

Looks like it's a done deal.
And it's official:

Some candidates IMO to replace Moser:
Matt Gordon, Loyola assistant
Drew Valentine, Loyola assistant
Roger Powell Jr., Gonzaga assistant
Jon Scheyer, Gonzaga assistant
Dennis Gates, Cleveland State head coach
I think Matt Gordon is the most likely replacement here just because I see them keeping things internal. Roger Powell Jr. and Scheyer would be home run hires IMO if they chose to leave.
Wow. It'll be quite interesting to see how this impacts Loyola, near term and long term.
Loyola has deep pockets by MVC standards, so this just shows how freakin' hard it is to keep good coaches when the big boys come calling.
He sure made a helluva mark for a program that hadn't done squat in modern times before the past five years, and made Doug Elgin and Co.'s decision to have them replace Creighton look awfully good.

Hopefully Loyola will descend into semi-mediocrity now as The Southern Illinois Salukis and Coach Magnifico Mullins take over as the Big Dawg of the MVC and become Chicago media darlings!
That is my prediction! (Also, I believe Sister Jean might move to Carbondale. She likes winners.)
Looks like Valentine is the guy
Kind of risky, only 30 years old I believe. But this will allow them to likely keep their recruiting class in tact.
As long as they don’t call Carbondale I don’t care who their next coach is.
With Porter gone, I wonder how long before Sister Jean enters the transfer portal.

Being so established roster-wise, it makes sense to hire internally, especially if they have hopes of persuading the seniors to return for another run.
It will be interesting to see what a guy like Krutwig might do with that extra year of eligibility on the table. Does he return for another go if Loyola keeps their core intact? Does he try following Moser to Oklahoma as a grad transfer? Or does he opt for the overseas paycheck that is waiting for him?
One aspect of all this to keep in mind is unless its the few standouts within this current crop of college basketball players who project as first round NBA draft picks, there's definitely an allure to use that extra year of eligibility for one more chance to play in front of packed houses (assuming things begin looking like they used to in short order) in what is truly the most unique aspect of college sports; the fans. That didn't happen this year, and I'm sure it factors into the decision-making process of these upperclassmen.
--Insert something witty here--
This kid is a gem, and it's the second straight year a stud player has left Drake,
And you know what's funny about that? Liam Robbins went to Minnesota, one of the 5 Big Teh14 teams that didn't make the tourney while Drake did.
If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀

From everything we’ve seen from Krut and Williamson my guess would be they aren’t coming back...at least not to Loyola. That may be part of the reason Moser left for the new gig, maybe somewhat of a rebuilding year for the Ramblers...like 4th place finish not complete rebuild with what UNI, Mo State, and Drake have coming back.
With Valentine getting the gig I would imagine they can keep most if not all their recruiting class. I wonder if they picked up the phone to gauge Mullins interest in coming back to Chicago...can’t see him leaving with unfinished business, but they could have certainly made him a nice offer if they wanted.
