beadmedaddio,
So Jerry Kill left coaching to be the AD? Is Chester Hinson's nickname? Is that him posting on this site?
None of this makes a lot of sense to me.
Jerry Kill continued his coaching career after he left SIU. First stop was Northern Illinois University and then on to the University of Minnesota. Health issues forced him to retire from coaching. He returned to SIU several years ago to be a special assistant to the university president with an emphasis on fund raising. Not quite a year ago he became the AD.
The Saluki-Insider member who took the member name of Chester Cheetos is not Barry Hinson. A lot of us call Barry Hinson 'Chester Cheetos' because Hinson voiced his resentment/hatred for anybody who does not worship him. Hinson referred to us as losers who live in their parent's basements and eat Cheetos - I'm paraphrasing.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Any chance Mullins would come back?
i talked to him after a game in Carbondale once. He said it was always bittersweet and he was always glad to be back.

Is there any reason for him not to entertain an interview/offer from SIU? Unfortunately, we have a head coach firmly entrenched and appears we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

That ship has likely sailed unless Loyola tanks and his stock goes down accordingly. SIU had its chance, and it blew it.
(Inflammatory political snark)
Hucky's Kansas connections pay off again!
Hucky's Kansas connections pay off again!
This article epitomizes what an inept verbose buffoon Chester Cheetos really is. Does anyone believe Chester could ever land a top 50 player? Especially one who does not have a relative on the coaching staff. UE changed coaches because Marty Simmons was/is a below average coach. The UE arrow is now pointing up. SIU has a below average coach and double down on him.
And does anybody really believe someone who went to KU would come here. The KU program all know, all too well, what a joke Chester is.

5 schools in 5 years, what is his issue?
However he will be the next Lebron James when playing us, but would be another below average player if he was here.
Looking back to the top recruits SIU did land, Kevin Dillard, Anthony Booker, etc. They never were as big as their shoes, and too mellow dramatic to play hard in a game.
Give me a Bryan Mullins or Tony Young. even a Sylvester Willis or Lemar Owens. I want guys who want to play hard and know they need to play hard.
Let's make one thing perfectly clear, the little huckster is a spin doctor, not a recruiter. He's possibly the biggest bull$hit artist I've ever seen. The unfortunate thing is those that can influence decisions at SIU have apparently fell for his act hook, line, and sinker!
Keep dumbin' it down little huckster.....none of us are smart enough to figure out the act..... 😡
Someone said they are driving 3.5 hours to see the Kentucky game. There was a time I would have also. Now I won’t even drive 15 miles to see them. I can take losing and have in the past. What I couldn’t accept is their acceptance of mediocrity and not seeing any sign of that changing.

I'm sorry to say, but I feel the same way. I live between ISUred and Bradley. I always went to at least those two SIU road games every year for at least 35 years. As you would expect, I always had plenty of people to go with or meet. Still do. For about 15 years I even had season tickets at Bradley. For the six years my son was in SIU undergrad/grad schools, I always saw at least two home games. I haven't gone to see them for the last two years and I have no intention of seeing them this year. Chester Cheetos has poisoned my love for the men's bb program so much that I don't want to see them. I only watch about a handful of games on the web -- and don't pay much attention then. I look forward to the time when we can be optimistic again. Until then, GO NICK HILL. I'll definitely be down to see a home football game or two. Chester Cheetos can't ruin those!
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
I love Cheetos
News from a friend who spoke with Kill.
Hinson has 1 year to make post season.
Any new hires will have a 3 year contract to show significant improvement in their program.

Great news. We know that Chester will never make a postseason. Just to be clear, does that mean the NCAA, NIT or any postseason that has the 150-200 ranked teams in? I would hope it means strictly the NCAA. And does one more season mean the 2018-19 or this on one more? I'm sorry if I'm sounding anal Woofie2 -- I'm simply trying to keep up.

Sorry. I won't believe it until it happens.

As SIU is too broke for a pay to play tournament, I would guess would have to be a Money ball, NIT or NCAA.
I do feel like dusting off Hucky's resume(Salukination era) and printing it off mailing a few to select SIU officials.
