I won’t rehash what’s been very well
said but I’m glad this new site is here to
keep the university athletic department
accountable. I was going to step away
from SIU but we cannot let them get
away with this.
I completely agree. The foundation called me for a donation after the Hinson debacle. I told them that I was done with the university. One piss poor decision after another. The Hinson fiasco was the tipping point for me.
I got a call from a call too - with about 50-seconds left in the Kansas game - told them no more money until the administration and powers in charge can demonstrate clear thinking and decisiveness in making the correct and sound - and easy - decisions. And Hinson is being fired would be such an example.
I wonder if they have been told to keep track of the reasons for not making donations.
The university may not be documenting exact reasons people give for declining to make donations, but I imagine they are getting the point loud and clear.
Bring back FLOOR BURN U !!
There’s still going to be opportunities to work to remove the Chancellor. Current faculty are pushing for it.
Maybe this is an instance where their motivation and ours align.
The “old boy network” is alive and making terribly irresponsible decisions at SIU.
Fire Hinson! And the Sheriff is a removed link
The Sheriff died with SalukiNation.
Did he truly die? Or was he... reborn?
🤔
Oh lord here we go
Anything that moves us toward a Hinson-less Carbondale, I'm for.

AirDawg, when my daughter was in college, she worked for a fund raising company contracted by the college. She had a screen with pre-determined reasons for people contributing or not contributing. She had to choose at least one predetermined reason and could not move on to the next person until she did. So if she had talked to you, and there was no box that stated ' I won't contribute again until you fire Chester Cheetos', she wasn't able to convey it.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Bead, great post.
That is exactly how "narratives" are controlled by those in power: limit input options but pretend to have an actual poll. It is revolting.
It is exactly how the powers that be at SIU have done it through the years, which is why I was reluctant to participate in the bs poll they put out every year, which was basically a "How can we improve our marketing?" poll. The one this year was marginally--but only marginally--better. It required some work to make an actual complaint about the basketball program, as opposed to the marketing thereof, but it could still be done if a participant were willing to work at it, which was marginally better than in years past. Still, it was NOT designed for actual feedback on the basketball program. They don't want to hear that.
(Inflammatory political snark)
If the powers that be wanted actual feedback on perceptions of the men's basketball program, they wouldn't have filled their questionnaire with questions about the quality of Cape Air's promotions. That questionnaire was all about promotions and marketing, but any positive feedback will be rolled into approval of BH's horseshit.

In my opinion, the chancellor doesn't need to be removed. Overall he is doing what needs to be done to get rid of the fifedoms in Carbondale that have held that school back for decades. That said, he clearly needs enlightenment on the Hinson situation. Its just sad how SIU has this huge opportunity to make a big splash nationally , hire a good young coach with great recruiting connections as well as financial connections and at the same time literally pay for any buyout with significantly increased season ticket sales , which would be almost immediate. However, in my 48 years of experience with SIU this is the norm, so Im not surprised....sadly. We will miss another huge opportunity to change our course.
this is an old article but if you read the two Missouri State fans quotes at the end it just goes to show how very little has changed http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/66074070
Dog days, without getting too much off-topic, the fiefdoms at SIU have historically been administrative in nature. To think faculty have ever had any input on how SIU is governed is not looking at the true history. Faculty have always been ignored here, shared governance doesn’t exist in Carbondale.

They called it a clown show. Now where have I seen this before ? 😎
Barry is exactly what is driving the wedge between me and the University and athletics that I have loved through the years, from the lows of the 80's (except the football team) to the highs of the 90's and 2000's, this is starting to get old again.
