There were a lot of warnings by a lot of people about the Hinson hire, and not many listened. Yeah, Hucky might be great as your next door neighbor but that doesn't mean he's the right choice to head your signature athletic program. Unlike the alums at ISURED I am not willing to settle for a mediocre used car/BBQ salesman. HUCKY is great at selling himself, but the Bradley debacle shows just how unqualified he is to be a D1 head coach, especially losing to Wardle. At home. Anyone who supports Hinson needs to have a mandatory saliva test.
Just listened to A Cook after the game interview and he stated they had no backup play if McGill was covered. BBQ said on interview that Wardel knew we were probably going to McGill in corner and covered him so........ just out coached again and again and again

I don't think most of us needed the Bradley loss to show that Hinson isn't the person for the job. His underwhelming body of work is quite convincing.
But, if it takes being hit over the head with a 2x4 for some to see it, fine by me.

I want to make another first hand accounting of a civil discussion in the stands last night involving “sign guy”(my nickname for him). A couple of twenty something people maybe 30ish behind us asked why he wanted to change coaches and what good it would do. Response was generally Hinson has never been to an NCAA Tournament in 16Valley seasons, he has taken a senior laden team to the pits, etc. It didn’t seem to register, one said , but he’s made us competitive. Then I turned around and said not good enough for us older fans. I don’t want a participation trophy, I want a first place trophy. I have paraphrased this conversation but the point is: there is a lot of satisfaction with Hinson and the current state of the program out there, indicating a big reason why he is still here. Not enough younger fans know what a good SIU basketball program is. Sorry to be so wordy
Have you guys seen twitter and Facebook. This is why we chose to lock the game thread lol
that was a good call. its a freak show over there on twitter and facebook.

Yeah, while I keep hoping during the game we win I see the long term benefits of losses like yesterday. I really think this is over unless we win 3/4 in STL... Even then, I do not think Hinson would get a long term deal. I think it is over. The outrage on social media is a snowball that is rapidly picking up steam. I heard a handful of boos at the horn yesterday, Fire Hinson signs, it just cannot last. This team cannot win the league anymore and has put itself in a position that playing Saturday in STL even looks like a long shot. Combine all of that with where Hinson's contract is and awful home losses like Winthrop, Valpo, Murray, and Bradley and Jerry Kill just is not going to have a choice.
I agree, the standards for SIU basketball are too low. This is a program that should be absolutely running this weak valley, and it can with the right direction. I am confident of that.
I still think we are going to win 9 to 11 valley games and win a game in STL and we are going to have to sweat it out, its very Hinson like to make people believe he can do it, he just ultimately cannot.

NO BACKUP PLAY?! This is Division I basketball.

What got posted here is tame compared to that. To think, people in our fan base were complaining about the message boards.

That is why we made that decision. The board crashed or it would have been immediate. We are trying our best to keep the negative in this thread

While I sympathize with your discussion with people who have the "be competitive" mindset, making this a generational issue is ridiculous. In fact, most of the people I've seen still drinking the Hinson Kool-Aid are closer to 40-60 age range (including the guy who made sure Hinson stuck around this year).
A quote from Tommy Bell's March '18 newsletter: Therefore, after much deliberation and consultation, I make the following statement about the future of Saluki Basketball - our sole objective in 2019 is to win a conference championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. Between now and next March, you will not hear us hedge or equivocate.
Makes you wish Tommy was back.

OK, I have to ask. Someone on one of the twitter rants referred to being happier than a dead pig in the sunshine. WHAT does that mean?!

Generational issue, really? You are drawing a false conclusion based on what I wrote.
