My first post outside the Notre Dame thread.
It's frozen here on the farm so thought I'd take a look around. Seems like Hinson is on the hot seat. I never understood why he was hired in the first place, but hindsight is always 20/20.
One thing I've learned from lifetime of rooting for the Irish: I'm not really entitled to the opinion about who the coach(es) is/are going to be in South Bend.
Yes, I'm a fan, but I'm not an alum (no ag school under the Golden Dome), and my family couldn't afford it anyway. I've been to two games there in my life, one football and one basketball. The trip to Dallas for the playoff was surprise present from family. Of course, I rarely miss televised games except when we're busy on the farm.
So, while I may invest a lot of time in following the Irish, I'm not donor. I'm not an alum.
I have a few friends who did go to ND. They are alums and donors. They have a say.
Seems to me money is talking in Carbondale. We all know it is, especially with the budget problems and everything else going on in Illinois. And a lot of people seem to be saying they're not giving money because of a coach. They're not renewing season tickets because of a coach. They're not going to games because of a coach.
Do you only give to winners? Seems to me giving is more important when you're losing. That's when you need your voice to be heard. I heard that Tommy Bell said the biggest complainers weren't donors or season ticket holders.
So, in other words, most of you complainers need to spend less time complaining and more time writing checks.
Here is a link you can use:

I bet your voice will be heard if you donate money.
Or not. I was a long time season ticket holder and donor but cancelled my donation and didn’t renew my tickets and told them why. That is the only way to get their attention.
In other words, you only give to get something back (otherwise known as a Native American giver) and you've lost your voice because your opinion no longer matters.
Fans have a choice what to do with their money. If they don't like the direction of the program or whatever BS is going on, they have every right to show their displeasure by NOT donating. Besides, some of us complaining ARE donors, dickhead.
Wow. You people are hateful. Crippling all of Saluki athletics because you don't like the basketball coach is selfish. Perhaps you should concentrate on complaining less on the internet and writing bigger checks so you can have a bigger voice.
Constructive vs Destructive
Or maybe we should just donate to the Golf Team or Track & Field instead. And whoops, I thought my post would be censored, so I went back and censored it myself. But you beat me to the draw!
Some people don’t seem to understand how the system works
Solid logic, program is horribly managed, you should reward it by giving it more money! It is sports not a cancer research hospital it isn’t obligated nor particularly deserving of donations right now
I don't trust writing checks to support this program with the leadership we have had the past 7 years. The ineptitude they have displayed shows me that they don't know how to put the money donated to good use. They have taken once proud football and basketball programs (which played in facilities falling apart) and turned them into cellar dwellers in the MVC (playing in a new football stadium and renovated basketball arena). They have not gotten a dime from me since Lowery was ousted and will not for the forseeable future. I'll gladly write checks when I believe the leadership.....but first they have to show me some positive actions in the next 2-3 years to make it happen.

From what I've been reading, you're at the front of that line of people who don't understand what is going on.

Are you in nursery school? waa, waa, waa....keep on crying, big boy. "My way or the highway" sounds an awful lot like our basketball coach.

Says the guy who naively thinks a 100 donation gives him a voice in the sea of big money six figure boosters.

Jerry Kill says that basketball and football must make money. They are not making money because people aren't buying tickets. Jerry Kill is making a personnel change. So tell me again how we don't understand how this works.
This isn't the criminal organization known as Notre Dame.
Craving a McBride Special!

It's not my way or the highway.....I can live with players not getting the minutes they deserve. I can live with tough losses. I can live coaches that I don't like. I can live with a few down years of a program. What I can't live with is a 7 year downward spiral taking our biggest programs into the abyss of the toilet bowl. With the track record of our leadership over this time, how am supposed to expect my donations to be put to good use. Sorry, but I'd rather donate to my church where I know my money is going to deliver positive returns. I work hard for my money and I'm not going to just hand it to a bunch of fools to waste in ways that deliver zero return.

It is not a real good idea to insult me.
i will try to explain it in a way you understand though.
You go to a restraunt and the food sucks.
Do you keep going there hoping if they make enough money to hire a new chef?
No you don’t you don’t go back until they hire a new chef.
hopefully that helps you understand I don’t expect much from Notre Dame fans but this is pretty simple.
I dont know if you are a troll or if you are really that naive, but at the end of the day on an individual level less than 1% of boosters' opinions actually matter. You know what a smaller donation gets you? Empty platitudes so you feel like you matter so you keep donating. The guys who get buildings named after them who can get 1 on 1 personal meetings with administration are who matter. The many only matter when so many of them become disgruntled it hurts the bottom line.
Imagine thinking SIU will take your opinion under advisement because you gave them a minor donation
