yeah - no so much. you might want to look that one up. he struggles to even win a conference tournament game much less an ncaa game. only one ncaa tourmanent win this decade, and played in just one NCAA game since 2014. not exactly stellar and i doubt any one here would be happy with it. we finished in second place to a final four team and no one is happy. can't blame them and he was never the answer to our problem. read the story.

But he still went to NIT and was fired i believe the next year--so sometimes whether you are retained or not is out of your hands"
I guess this is a clue on the question whether he thinks Barry Hinson is doing a good job at SIU.

Kinda of amazing that the DE is the only news media to pickup on Tommy Bell's newsletter. The rest of the media in Southern Illinois is too close to Hinson to report the facts about the program, afraid that they won't be allowed access to the team. No one is saying that we have to go to a postseason (NCAA or NIT) every year but is it really too much for the fans to expect the program to be better than it has been? No postseason in 10 years? You can do survey's, polls, email's to the powers that be and what every else you want but all you need to do is look at the attendance at the games, there is a reason that it is trending down. People aren't buying what Hinson is selling. PERIOD 🤬

Classic cherry-picking from underdawg.
The fact is, both of those teams whiffed for the most part when facing any competition of note.
One could make the argument that the 2005-2006 team was "jobbed" by the committee not being able to countenance having five MVC teams in the tourney. I would not make that argument, but "one" could. BH's team had a job to do, and it failed.
The fact remains that BH has never taken a team to the NCAA tournament. Expecting that to change is insanity.
