Fletcher and McGill both out for at least the next 2 games
They should be able to beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Howard without the two of them,
That means we will only have 8 scholarship players.
Time for Beane to step up
Time for Beane to step up
I think he's gonna be a good one. Was impressed with his freshman poise against a big, athletic Buffalo.
Beane is going to get some extended minutes. It should be a confidence builder for him. The other guy that desperately needs to start making a difference is Brendan Gooch!
Probably for the best. They'll win the next 2 games regardless and it gives Beane a chance to get good minutes and develop. He looks like he can be good.
Howard beat UMass tonight as part of Vegas tourney on the road and is 4- 0 so far.
Might be a tough game for us without 2 starters.

Howard's 4-0 mark really isn't all that, as three of those wins were against non D-1 teams. This game shouldn't be a problem, as long as SIU can rotate its 8 healthy players OK.
I knew Fall, Schafer and Dembele were redshirting but I was surprised to see David Swedura is as well since he's a walk-on. I know it's up to the kid but having a kid like Swedura on a night like tonight for some mop up duty would be helpful. It would have been a shame if Cook, Bartley or Lloyd got hurt with us up 20+.
Also, they're going to have to do something about class balance...geez. Those four redshirts, plus Jimmy Beane and the two new signings will all be freshmen next season, along with the other signings they still have left.

I agree. They need to be looking at a grad transfer or two that can provide some leadership for next year's team. Cook should also help as a stabilizing force for the freshman.

I hadn’t heard Swedura was redshirting.

If they don't add a grad transfer next year, I'd be shocked. It shouldn't be for lack of trying.
--Insert something witty here--
I haven’t heard that Shafer is red shirting? I did hear Fall, Swedura, and Dembele were.
Yes, Shafer is redshirting; he had originally opted not to, but then changed his mind.
