Yes, Shafer is redshirting; he had originally opted not to, but then changed his mind.

As long as SIU can get healthy, it's a good idea for these guys to redshirt.  They should be practicing hard and taking advantage of the opportunity to go up against Bol, Pippen, and Fletcher.

There would be pretty decent class balance if Rudy and Lloyd had redshirted instead of spending their freshman years wasting away on the bench. They should both be redshirt juniors the year. I don't know whose fault that is, but I do know they both had a year of eligibility wasted.
