I was at the game across from team bench.  I did not see the technical.  All I know it was on the "bench".  What was it?  It was a great game.  Disappointed at size of crowd.  The team is so fun to watch.  Very excited this year and for the future.  A decade of darkness but now into the light.

The TV announcers were saying it was on Mullins.  He was tearing into an official after a non-call where it looked like they fouled Domask.

I sit right behind the bench.  And yes, Domask was mugged.  The principles at each end of play were banging equally though, so I saw it as the ref letting them play.

However, Domask was mugged.

I glanced over at Mullins and he had his hands in the air as if to say WTF!  He then followed the play down the sideline and was obviously screaming at the ref for the no call and must have used a magic word or threw out a 'your mamma' comment.

Ref pointed right at Mullins. He was up and yelling at someone on the floor. Ref had just made a questionable call against us right in front of our bench.

I sit across from the bench.  Don't think Mullins used a bad word... Sensitive ref jumped the gun after missing an easy call.  Bryan was simple yelling and gesturing that the defender clearly brought his arms down on Domask, and he was right.  Ref across the court gives a tech when there is a ref standing right by Mullins.  Pathetic.  Make a bad call worse by giving a technical for pointing out that you suck at your job.  I am so sick of refs getting in the way of games.  They think they are something special and they all really suck.  Always in their feelings too.  Bunch of babies.

Yes I was curious why the official at the opposite end of the court called the technical and not the ref that had Mullins in his ear.  Even at the NBA level officiating is bad, but at least they’re professionals.  We lost by 2, they got 2 off the technical.  I’m not saying that’s why we lost (it was the poor first half), but it can decide important games.

While I'm sad about the 2 game skid, I'm not deterred in my overall excitement for this program. Reality is setting in a little bit. Playing so many freshman for heavy minutes coupled with key injuries; depth is an issue.

After the grinds that were Evansville and Missouri State, SIU was bound to hit a wall. with astute observation of those wins, in a way you could even see it coming. The real surprise here is the second half charge today to put themselves in position to win. Very impressive stuff.

The extra day before Evansville at home is very important, IMO. With proper rest, this is the point they can collect themselves and finish strong.

The reality is this team has holes and needs an infusion of size, strength and athleticism. Give this staff time and I'm confident it will come.

Ben Harvey

My dream scenario is we'll sign a couple of bigs this spring; a grad transfer and an impact JUCO. Plug one of those in with a starting lineup that at this point obviously includes Harvey, Domask, Cook and Jones and you have plenty of size, depth and skill. That's a team that can do some things.

Sign me up for that.

As much as I’m looking forward to the next few weeks, seeing what the staff can do with however many rides they end up having to work with in the spring will be very interesting in its own right.

I think I jinxed them. Since my first and only post they're 0-2! I noticed during the last two games that they are hesitant to bring it inside in the first half and they're taking a lot of 3s. Then they seem to get it together in the second half, driving the lane and passing it to Benson, etc.

Still a very young team, with lots of growing up to do.  They also lack depth, especially on offence.  They do hang tough and play hard - no quit in these young Dawgs.  They are a year ahead of schedule as far as I am concerned.  Mullins has done a fine job with limited resources and definitely has things turned around.

Well, we do start 3 Seniors, but your points are still valid.  I'm glad folks are being being realistically optimistic about this team and program.  Good things are coming.

Watched the replay of the game after I got home...  The replay only reinforced some of the missed calls and obvious wrong calls that I observed live.  I agree the Dawgs should not have let themselves be in the position that officiating could determine the game, but....:

Five very obvious 2nd Half officiating mistakes made in this game!

1. 12:02  - Domask fouled while shooting - No Call    Loss of two free throws.

2. 11:58  - Technical Foul.   2 points to Bradley

3.   4:48  - Childs on/over Davis back for rebound - No Call, loss of SIU possession.

4.   4:42  - Kennell traveled on drive to the bucket immediately after the no call on Childs rebound - HE TOOK THREE FULL STEPS! No Call, 2 points to Bradley

5.   3:50  - Domask fouled while shooting again under the basket - No Call.  Loss of two free throws. Result was jump ball with possession to Bradley.

Two other 2nd half calls almost made this list;

1. Travel call on Benson at the top of the key.  He never moved his left foot until he put the ball on the floor.

2. 9:58  -  Charge call on Jones due to Tahvanainen flop.  Very little contact on the Jones drive.

These calls all helped decide this important game.

Still proud of the Dawgs and their second half effort!!  Hard to beat a team that has 6 players on the court.

@salukiworld

I just saw and watched the video. I still believe that Lowery, both in his salary demands and the type of ME players he recruited, were the downfall of this program and yet Hinson gets all the blame.  That being said, I think it's time I bury the axe.  I loved hearing what he had to say.  I also love that Mullins is bringing back former players who can speak to the team about the tradition and WINNING.   With that, I will do my absolute best to not speak poorly regarding Lowery in the future.  More importantly, GO DAWGS !!!!
