I thought that 3 was gonna go down at the end. Just gonna go kick a cab down the road for the next hour lol.
I love BM, and I think SIU has solid players, but we just don’t get the length and athleticism that’s on these other teams. One guy isn’t gonna fix it, btw.

I don't have a problem with not taking a timeout there, by the time you called it you would have maybe 3 seconds left to go the full length of the court, you wouldn't have ended up with anything better than the shot they got.
I am highly disappointed in whatever you call what Jones did today. He was so piss poor Mullins benched him. It takes a lot of piss poor play for a coach to bench one of his stars in the biggest game in 15 years. Pretty sure he is in the shithouse right now.
I agree that Jones should have been benched, but any play out of a time out would have been higher percentage than whatever that was at the end of the game.

Thought they should have called a timeout when Domask was stuck under the basket. But for sure at least one timeout after the FT miss, hell maybe two.
What made that play so memorable and spectacular is that it actually worked. That play is used hundreds of times in college basketball every year, and works a handful at best. So yeah, what we got without the timeout was probably as good or better than we would have gotten calling one and letting the best defense in the valley set up for the play.I don't have a problem with not taking a timeout there, by the time you called it you would have maybe 3 seconds left to go the full length of the court, you wouldn't have ended up with anything better than the shot they got.

You don't have a problem? Remember the Missouri State game year one? Rather have a shot like that then a half court prayer
No offense, but you really think a half court heave is better odds wise than a three off a screen from a cross court pass?
Numbers wise, it just doesn’t compute.
Little twist just rolled over in his grave. HE HATED BRADLEY even more than the Redbirds.
There’s no way to look at this season as a success unless they magically win their next six games.
I hope the people in charge get that. We might be stuck here for a bit. I’m sure that’s fine for some, and I’m not gonna judge anybody who feels that way.

"If Belmont beats Drake, I’d say we’re probably playing Thursday"
Won't happen - Drake already up by 12 in 1st half - will win by 15-20 IMO.
Game's on CBS Sports.
Problem with calling a timeout is, you would have to make a half court pass to even get a shot, and in most cases those passes are broken up and the offense never even gets a chance to take a shot. Sure, if you actually complete the pass you have a higher percentage shot, but it rarely happens. Would be even rarer against a good team with the best defense in the league. I doubt they would have a defensive breakdown bad enough to allow that half court pass to even be made. What made that play so memorable and spectacular is that it actually worked. Either way, i totally get your argument. But once we got the ball down 2 with 4 seconds remaining, the chance you are going to score no matter what you do is slim to none at best. An argument can be made either way, but neither way works more than maybe 1% of the time.
Bottom line is we lost today because Lance just didn't come to play, his total lack of anything even recognizable as good play cost them the win and got him benched.
@quatroschallengesaluki Don't you get the ball at half court after the timeout?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Lance deserves to be benched today but SIU is also not getting past Friday without Lance playing even decent. Domask (and defense) was the only reason they had a shot today, can’t expect him to have over half your points and win many games.
@quatroschallengesaluki Don't you get the ball at half court after the timeout?
No, that’s the NBA. Would have been side-out.
I would disagree with the 1% assertion.
With two timeouts one timeout can be burned at the point where the inbounds is caught by the Salukis. Then you design the screen for Domask to win.
Not a super high percentage sequence, but higher than 1% for sure.
Bradley is better than us. Drake is quite a bit better than us. Mullins has promise as a head coach, but there are a handful of coaches in the MVC that are better and more experienced. We are about where we should be in a bit of a watered down MVC. Preseason prognosticators were right on. It sucks. Reality sucks. Today sucked.
Also, I said early in the season that for this team to reach its potential, Lance Jones would have to be playing near his ceiling. I’ve never seen him play worse than he’s shown lately. Rightfully, he ate the bench.
