Isn't the SIU System HQ supposed to be in Springfield? And one reason is to keep an appearance of no favoritism to either campus? So, the SIU President living in Springfield makes sense.
The medical school is in Springfield.
And so is another SIU Carbondale based function, Workforce Education or something (yes, Google is my friend, but I'm lazy right now...)
Go Dawgs!

Now the search of the site lists his work contact in Carbondale.
Which contradicts this article from the Southern in 2020. Maybe he has homes in both places? Now I’m confused.
Also apparently Lane’s wife stayed in Texas.
SIU players (past and present) really coming to bat for Mullins. Also, lots of Dawg pound members talking about how much he helped that organization. Taking the temperature at the tournament, there really seems to be a generational divide on who wanted him gone and who wanted an extension (not sure how much that holds true overall obviously). Really feels like a somber mood here in the Saluki section (what’s left).
Bryan is a friend of mine, so this is bittersweet for me as well. But it's not a shock. I'm actually impressed the university had the balls to make the move so decisively. From what I know, I think Tim Leonard was allowed to make the call. But I could be wrong.
People are blowing up my phone asking if Smithpeters (Kyle) is going to be the next coach. I would be surprised if we went that direction, but I would support him 100%. He arguably has a better resume' than Mullins did. He has head coaching experience, he's been a great recruiter at the Juco level, and of course has ties to SIU.
Thanks for posting the article link; that's not the article or reference I was thinking of but...
I'll bet that Carbondale office phone number auto-forwards to a phone with a different area code (217? 447?).

The President of SIU is paid enough to have homes in both places. That would be my guess.
"A national search will begin immediately for Mullins' successor, according to Leonard"
Let's hope this is accurate...
I have absolutely no inside information whatsoever, but I've seen a few social media posts, a couple by people who seem to insinuate that they have first-hand knowledge of things, or at least have a good source inside, that suggest he may not have been fired so much as it seems it might have been mutual. Mullins may have had on offer, or had something lined up, or had some opportunity or something that he mutually agreed to end things. At least that's the impression I've gotten from the tone of some things. Like the release from the athletic department that seems to talk him up, the announcement saying they have agreed to part ways. I've seen nothing that explicitly says he was let go or fired. So, i don't know. Makes me wonder.
He was let go. I know for a fact he wanted an extension . Him not getting it early enough might have been a problem but he wanted one.
Bryan Mullins, good old #10 and the epitome of "Floor Burn U" when it actually was more than just slogan. I don't know who had more grit, you or Tony Young, but I am pretty sure I will not see such a tandem at SIU as hard nosed as you and Tony. You had your share of bad breaks...injuries to the bigs, the weird Covid season and and the craziness of NIL and the transfer portal.I am sorry things didn't work out for you. I know you gave a pretty darn good shot as head coach here at SIU and I doubt there is any fan who wishes you anything but success in the future. I know you will take the lessons learned from your 5 years with you to somewhere else and use them to become a better coach. Looking forward to seeing you someday coaching a team in the Big Dance.
I feel bad for Bryan because I truly believe he gave his heart and soul to the program he had rebuilt good will with the community the school always handled himself with class his players were always respectful other than a few bad losses and whatever excuse people want to make to justify his firing the program will take a step back it will be a complete reset which in my opinion a terrible thing because with 1 or 2 difference making players in the portal this program could have taken a big step next year with the nucleus they had coming back and if anyone thinks it will quick and easy turn around I doubt it it is hard to catch lightning in a bottle but until I see proven results in the future I am done
Tim Leonard interview
Leonard handled that as well as he could.
