You challenged me for specifics. I know I'm silly clueless. Perhaps you can tell me where Bryan has grown in his coaching and why he deserves an extension. Also someone up here like "hey just draw up winning plays and make the ball go in"... Some of you are just silly clueless.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
I was at the game and I turned to my wife and guests and said after the pre-half play by Belmont................. "now THAT is how a Coach should think". Does anyone here think that with 1.7 (or thereabouts) Mullins would have thought to throw the ball to mid-court, call TO and then get a very good shot at a 3, which they made ?
Im sure he knows that, get real.I was at the game and I turned to my wife and guests and said after the pre-half play by Belmont................. "now THAT is how a Coach should think". @cowboydawg Of course he knows it. But that's not the point. Would he have thought of it? And then called for it. This probably explains my underlying thought of Bryan. The first couple of years, one does not expect a new head coach to think of everything. I guess only the best coaches eventually do. Having said that, over Bryan's career, there's been one or two times a game he appears to have been out coached by the best coaches in the Valley. Maybe I'm wrong. But can anyone think of a game that you were left thinking Bryan out coached him? I never miss a game. And I don't. Will it come. Let's hope so.

SIU 101 SLU 62
Every timeout BM drew up some winning plays and then the players made the ball go in. It was just that simple! 😀
We also shot 66% and made 12 - 17 threes!
I am probably say something controversial here when I say not all of the play calls for inbounds plays or blown defensive plays or anything else when it comes to coaching recruiting or anything related late game situations and Mullins and staff are prepared their team is prepared but sometimes maybe the player or players on any given situation don't execute is that a coaching problem or a player problem coaching is like parenting you give them the blueprint they have to execute if a child doesn't do well is that a parenting problem or a child problem
Notice I didn't call out anyone specifically because they all understand they have to be better and calling out individuals doesn't help
This thread has deteriorated into gibberish.

Here is my take at this time.... If we win 20 and get a bye Thursday night for the second year in a row, i say give him a modest two-year extension. If we continue to stumble down the stretch, only win 17-18 games, and have to play Thursday and lose Friday.... I'd be questioning the wisdom of giving him one, but i also would not be mad if he is given a short extension. If we completely fall apart, i'd let him go. So as of right now, it looks like I'd be ok with an extension because i doubt we completely fall apart.
My vote is to give him 2 more years since he is a first time HC……..but the AD needs to make it clear that really soon he will hire an proven offensive minded assistant before summer.
From what I understand Mullins is in complete control and I can understand that with him being a first time head coach but if that is true maybe some suggestions go by the way side also if it is true maybe Bryan needs to learn to delegate and trust certain suggestions from his coaches
I was thrilled when Mullins was hired and have always wanted him to be successful. However, my expectations have take a complete nose-dive. Earlier in the year I hoped the new recruiter would bring in a group of excellent recruits to help turn this around. Having observed the recent quality of coaching, I am not sure Mullins could take full advantage of their talents. Reference the year with Johnson, Jones, and Domask with little improvement in coaching.
This is Paul Lusk 2.0, unfortunately. He just doesn't seem to be ready for a D1 head coaching position. I'm very sad about that.

After beating a ranked opponent at home screw it, let’s give the man an extension.

bryans biggest growth is offense. The different in this year and last is staggering. Pace of play is much higher. His offenses efficiency I believe ranks in the top 4 in the valley and in the top 100 nationally. They’re a much better offensive team. That hasn’t caused a huge sacrifice in defensive efficiency. Bryan’s program has beaten power 5 teams and shown and ability to compete with the best. Another huge improvement is rebounding, Bryan’s teams are rebounding at a rate we have not seen. A lot of that is because we have added some real length and athleticism. This is without a doubt Bryan’s best coaching job and he’s done a damn good job in years past too. You hire a green coach, who is doing a really good job and shown continuous improvement, giving up on that now would be foolish. Bryan in 5 years might be the best coach in the valley. He’s greener than any other coach and still is out coaching half of them
