Mr woogers

applying for other jobs is the definition of foot out the door. I don’t care if he was asked or not.

just sayin 😊

Applying for other jobs is one way to negotiate a higher salary also.

lots of mixed info being leaked. I’m starting to wonder about some of it if it might be intentional misdirection.  Again lots of moving parts

Nobody else has brought up this highly improbable scenario as far as I can tell, so I will: If the administration indeed is adamant about making a change, but SIU does the almost impossible and wins four straight in St. Louis to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, would the power brokers pivot and decide to keep Mullins? It would be a PR gaffe of the highest order to fire a guy after he has led the program to the Big Dance for the first time in years. Please note that I said it's "highly improbable," although like everyone else, I hope it happens.

@ajcsaluki If Mullins takes us to the NCAA, I'd say his job is safe! 😉

Of course they'll change course and keep Mullins if this happens.  That being said this is a complete fairy tale.

Mullins just finished third in the MVC Coach of the Year polling. He also got the only first-place vote that Schertz did not get.

Whoever gave the 6th place team's coach a first place vote needs to have their future vote revoked

I’m tapping here. I have so much info coming at me from people who are never wrong. Problem is somebody is gonna have to be.

I now have hope Bryan stays. If Lane does get the NMSU job it may be a good thing.

that being said I can no longer accurately say anything. I apologize for jumping the gun a bit. The info I got was from a deep state source. Never wrong . Today an equally in source told me the exact opposite.  I try my best to be accurate.

and FU on Bertrand. My info was legit and that has been confirmed 🤣🤣

the shot caller knows who he wants.

But who calls the shots at SIU these days? The Chancellor, who almost has one foot out the door? The Athletic Director? The Board of Trustees?

SIU admin and the board are very happy with Lane to date. Enrollment has increased, giving has increased, very little drama, etc. The NMSU job which he was invited to apply for includes an over $100k pay increase. He has been committed to SIU while here. Lots of folks jumping to big conclusions with little info.

I love the guy so far. First Chancellor in a while that has really worked hard at boosting SIU fund raising, enrollment, athletics, etc. Has really taken the bull by the horns! Sure hope he stays. Guess his son played for A&M and he came from Texas Southern so he probably knows A&M well.

The prognosticator  who says the next hire will be a huge failure is the last person whose judgement I would trust.

If Lane gets the NMSU job, I think that'll be a bad thing for SIU - not talking basketball here. We need some serious, good leadership and we finally have it I think.

I’m not going to question Barkeep, he has a proven track record.

”Bertrand is a lock for SIU”. I have a long memory.

I have no inside info or anything but this  was stated

“Pretty sure there will be a short extension. This is what I’m hearing anyway.”

Then 9 hours later it was stated there was an heir apparent in place.   So I’m not taking this as the gospel.

However this has been a gut punch to hear the rumors.  I have honestly been teetering which way to go.  But having it  thrown out there…that he is being fired…with a replacement lined up. I don’t like it. I am more positive on the roster next year than others.  IF we get a portal point guard I feel we’ll be really good.

As a consensus the board loves:

SG: Ferguson

SF: Davis

C: Ebube

Then you have:

Damico- Scored double digits in last 6 games.

Hensley

Cade

Rupert

So I dunno…..

We have a good core of guys coming back. Get a couple of good guards from the portal and next year could be very good!

Hey he was right on Mullins and Howard.  Plus BK is the best source I got.

Not to mention the only source...but.. 🤣
