Rebounding was awful again. We couldn’t take care of the ball on offense. Seemed like every few possessions we threw the ball away. Couldn’t create open shots from behind the arc.  The officiating was terrible. Positives: our defense looked good, Aaron cook is very talented, and we looked great until the end of the first half.

Got to let it play out, I guess.  They cannot possibly be as bad as they played in that stinky second half.  I have not seen Bartley act like he even wants the shot, though.  I sure hope that Beane turns into a Beast quickly.  Best thing I can say is that the next game starts at 0-0.

Almost hate to say this but last night kinda reminded me of the ol' Lowery "commotion offense". Dribbling and passing the ball around the perimeter until someone shoots a desparation 25-footer at the end of the shot clock. I'm not expecting Jamaal Tatum to come out of the crowd to help fix this. Plus, I don't think he has any eligibility left.

Maybe it's a broken record, and I said it during the real time analysis, but the offensive sets have to get better. A lot of the sets ended up with Cook having to creating something out of nothing. He tried heroically to carry us but a lot of the hero shots just weren't falling. I don't pin any of this on him - I think the offense had to be more cohesive and SIU needed to get better shots.

It's a shame we wasted a very good defensive effort because the offense went into commotion mode.

Southern also is pretty easy to guard right now from a personnel standpoint. Bartley is mostly one-dimensional as a shooter, and well-coached teams aren't going to give him many clean looks from 3. Conversely, they're playing Lloyd to drive, as he's shot it very poorly so far (he can shoot it better than he has, but he's never going to scare teams with his perimeter shooting).

Cook and Fletcher are the guys who can be more multi-dimensional, but this team, while certainly experienced, has some talent limitations, and that's not even touching on what appears to be a suspect bench.

Both well said.

Oh yea, cause these same deficiencies are only two games old haha.  Literally been watching this same scenario for 6+ years now.  The guy isn't a good coach.

Yup....new season, same old scheiße.

Go Dawgs!
