Unless SIU pulls off the upset at Buffalo next month, this effort's gonna sting for a while.

I didn't get to see the Kentucky game.  And I only saw the last 5 minutes of tonight's.  What I've seen leaves me extremely disappointed and little hope for a post season.  What did I miss that should leave me with some optimism?

Nobody died.

On the very few occasions over the past 6-plus seasons when there has been enough enthusiasm about the program to draw a good crowd ... vs. Wichita, vs. Loyola, tonight vs. Buffalo ... eggs have been laid and the true state of the program, relative to quality opposition, has been badly exposed. The fact that anyone could wonder why most of the fan base has grown apathetic/pissed off/obsessed with bringing in Mullins to replace Hinson is beyond me.

This era has just been a big nothing at a time when the university desperately needs something.

I’ll try to be optimistic. No major injuries.

Ah, I can’t do it anymore, who am I kidding?

The fact that we had a chance at Kentucky alone should give you optimism. And we just held a Buffalo team that scored 99 against WVU to 62 and held Massinburg to only 7 points when he scored 43 against WVU. These first two games could have gone much worse. They’ll be just fine.

Thanks!  I'm not feeling great -- but I do feel a little bit better.

The usual for a "big" game:

Outcoached, outplayed, missed free throws, missed layups, missed open shots, missed opportunities.

What did I miss?

Oh, yes we missed AF.  😪

March on triumphantly!

How much did BH use Armon as an excuse in postgame?

I was just getting ready to write something very much like this, siudawgs; thank you for saving me the trouble!

The few times there have been hope during the BH era have been--EVERY. FREAKIN'. TIME.--Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown.

See all those empty seats in the Arena tonight? Despite the good showing against KY and some idiotic sap giving us a Top 25 vote? Those empty seats are a direct result of this BS happening before. People are getting less and less willing to buy into this bullshit.

And STILL, for some people, it's the fault of "negativity" from Salukitalk, Salukination, and now Salulki-Insider.

Enough! Enough! Enough! Please!

(Inflammatory political snark)

If we had played like this at UK, that would have been a 25 point loss. 2nd half defense was really bad - left them wide open many times and they made the threes. We shot very poorly even with a lot of good shots.. Would lose a lot of MVC games playing like this. They're also good and big and athletic.

One thing a lot of coaches do which I disagree with when playing a good shooting team is tell their players to slough off toward the middle. Hinson's teams have been doing that for years. Stay on your man unless they're absolutely killing you in the middle. Make the shooters put the ball on the floor.

Hinson says we were phenomenal defensively tonight!!!! BS. Not in the 2nd half.

He says we had some guys that kind of gave up. Agree with that. The effort wasn't great once they got a bit of a lead.

Main problem was not scoring - agree with that.

If you’re saying this, you have to be banking SIU will have three wins in Enterprise Center with one of those wins being the title game. Otherwise, we aren’t making the tournament.  You think we can get an at-large? Prove it with some numbers.

“Fine” isn’t good enough, especially with most of the team lost to graduation in the summer.

Fletcher was sorely missed - if Pippen is out, and Cook is off this team doesn't have anyone that can create their own shot, and that showed for about 10-15 mins of game time today.

Yep. Not a great crowd there tonight either, and this is with a ranked team in the building.
