I thought earlier it was posted they were promoting the associate head coach, Marty Richter. Did he leave with DeVries? I know they tagged him as the interim.

McCollum is from Iowa and held out for the job. Could have promoted Richter but decided to go with the accomplished coach. Drake probably isn't going away anytime soon.
Like Nagy, McCollum has a lot of work to do in assembling next season's roster. There's a 2-year-old interview online in which he seems a bit disdainful of the portal and NIL, and it will be interesting to see if he adjusts that philosophy. But his record shows that he's a superior coach, and I think he'll prove to be a very good long-term hire.
